Kneeling did not go over well in Dallas

Reggie Cannon is mad about it.
This was an entirely predictable outcome. The players voiced their opinions but are now upset that the fans voiced theirs. There is no bubble to insulate players from criticism, no ESPN anchors to slob all over the knob of the BLM movement, so now they get to hear how fans really feel about this. The full statement Reggie put out can be seen on the US soccer subreddit and the MLS subreddit. Those places are both slightly left of Karl Marx so the commentary is about what you would expect.

Players from FC Dallas and Nashville SC were booed by fans for kneeling ahead of Wednesday night’s game — a reaction one defender called “absolutely disgusting.”
Photos show the athletes and referees taking a knee during the national anthem at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas in front of a sparse crowd. “I think it was absolutely disgusting,” Dallas defender Reggie Cannon said after the match, Sky Sports reported. “You’ve got fans booing you for people taking a stand for what they believe in.”

“We got fans booing us in our own stadium. How disgraceful is that?” he said. “We asked for no anthem because we don’t feel it was right for the anthem to be played at this moment. They ignored our wishes, so we were going to kneel regardless if the anthem was played or not.”

I’ll pass on this
Fans voiced their opinion, isn’t that what makes America great?

Reddit doesn’t see it that way
What’s sad is that people conflate booing the kneelers to not supporting “anti racism.” When in reality I think it’s primarily people who think 1. Kneeling disrespects the flag (I could argue either way here) or 2. Systemic racism is a lie and statistically police don’t actually kill black people at a greater clip than white people.

Was this an automated prerecorded booing? WTF are general public doing at a match?

There's so much stupidity in this situation..
The anthem before games is antiquated. If the players asked for it not to be played they should have just skipped it. Granted I don't like the reason why they asked for it to be played, but by not respecting the player's decision FC Dallas knew they were creating a potentially bad situation.
The people booing during the national anthem are the ones being disrespectful more so than the ones silently kneeling.
Reggie Cannon getting upset others voiced an opinion different than his shows his mental weakness.
For the love of God though with everything going on in this country JUST LET SPORTS BE SPORTS PLEASE. Post as much shite as you want on your social media and say whatever in post/pre game press conferences but for a few hours just let it go.

This... The snowflakes who get their panties in a twist over people protesting during the anthem for lack of respect were literally showing more disrespect than the players

I'm sure people in Dallas remember the BLM supporter who murdered 5 police officers in cold blood. Now that there is "absolutely disgusting".

This for sure
I would boo them after the anthem

I do have to add to this
Of course now it’s just easier to find out about it with media being so easy to get, social media etc
I feel like politics in sports have been around for a long time

Players can kneel. That's their right.
Fans can boo. That's their right, too.
