I can't decide if tactical or personal is worse. If tactical, then Klinsmann is an idiot for rating all those guys, especially Brad Davis, higher. If personal, then Klinsmann is a frickface. Both are inexcusable.

I think Klinsmann is great for the USMNT, but it's hard to imagine someone screwing this up any worse.

I agree he has had a net positive effect, but it is beyond disheartening to see this relationship with the best and most important player in our nation's history.

Jesus fricking Christ, this game, in the grand scheme of things, means nothing (the practice time is important if a lot of new guys are involved). JK can't just swallow his pride for one day and let the best American soccer player of all time ride off into the sunset without any bullshite?

This is what bugs me. The fact that Donovan is playing at such a high level right now on the left wing makes the Brad Davis inclusion (and JK classifying LD as solely a forward) so terrible on so many levels. Outside of a handful of Zusi's corners, our outside midfield was NON-EXISTENT in Brazil. Zusi was too slow, Bedoya was afraid to ever push up into the attacking third and Davis' cameo v. Germany needs to be its own TBS comedy show.
And even if we are going to entertain that LD could only contribute as a forward, well he would have still helped, especially when Jozy went down and our attack on offense went with it. I'm sorry, but I'm still convinced that Donovan, at this very moment, is still our most creative player on the ball. With Dempsey moving up for Jozy, Donovan would've have been THE PERFECT fit in the #10 role and probably would've led to more chances v. Belgium where we possibly win in regulation, given what Timmy did that day.
We know that Donovan would've helped us, Donovan knows that Donovan would've helped us, and deep down, I bet Klinsi knows that Donovan would've helped us, but he let his pride get in the way.

We would certainly have had a better chance. There was a decent amoutn of space in that Belgium game, but as it wore on, we used it less and less. Even as a '60 minute sub, we could have really used him.

I'm not positive Landon would have gotten us any farther, but I'm positive he would have made us better.
It's obviously a personal element with Klinsmann. We don't know what went on behind the scenes with Landon's hiatus (which he had a right to). It'll be interesting to see how this all unfolds over time.

But, the fact that we can ask the question is reason enough for me to say it was stupid as frick to leave Landon home.

More like 60 out of 100.
He's missed more than a few sitters for than a national team jersey. That's one of the reasons it took so long for him to break the ice with the USMNT. He kept getting chances, he just couldn't finish.
