Yeah, but it's a hamstring injury. What if wanting 20-30 minutes turns into 2 minutes because game speed is different than practice? Then we wasted a sub putting him in, and now have to waste another to take him out. I don't see him playing.

don't want this stuck at the bottom of last page:
quote:
Cameron in for Beckerman, Jozy on bench
#USA XI: Howard, Gonzalez, Bradley, Besler, Beasley, Dempsey, Bedoya, Jones, Zusi, Cameron, Johnson
quote:
Kompany in
#BEL XI: Courtois, Alderweireld, Van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen, Witsel, Fellaini, De Bruyne, Mertens, Origi, Hazard

no prob.
even bigger news to me is:
dude has been strong this tournament, can't figure out why he's not starting.

No Beckerman. Hopefully this means US will be attacking

quote:That would be awful, but it's ultimately Klinsmann's decision. I don't understand how him not starting is causing people to believe that he wont play at all. I get that it we are risking two subs by letting him play, but that doesn't mean him getting the green light is all a smokescreen. There are risks in every sport.

Not saying that you believe he wont play HeadChange.. just a follow-up to my previous post

quote:What don't you understand about a hamstring injury? Highly easy to re-injure. His only chance would have been to apply heat prior to stretching, then more heat applied. Then he was going out for warm ups to get his muscles firing and "warm up". At that point, he's at his least vulnerable. Let him do all of that, then sit for over an hour? I don't think so. No chance he subs.
He will come on as a sub. I don't get why people are saying this is so unlikely.

Most people think that if he's gonna play, then he'd be starting. That way if he does re-injure himself, you use one sub not two. Hamstrings are tricky little devils.

yeah, this leads to believe he might be done for the tourney...
what?? this seems more likely they will use him if/when the US advances..

I get that, but what if you are tied in say the 75th minute with two subs left? You could put him in if you think it will give us a shot at a winning goal, and if you have to yank him than oh well

unfortunately several times. its the most annoying injury ever because you can walk fine within a week but every time you try to exert yourself physically you tweek it again. basically have to sit a solid month out.

4-3-3... interesting. There will be a lot of pressure on Jones/Bradley/Cameron in midfield.
I think Cameron will be good today, but I'm worried about holding on to possession with 3 guys who are pretty defensive midfielders out there.

i don't know. apparently i'm not a MD AND world class athlete like the rest of this board.
if he's medically cleared, then i'd assume that the training staff and team doctors have said he can go for however long without a high likelihood of re-tearing the thing.

quote:Then you're team has done a hell of job already, honestly. Sub, sure. But don't waste Jozy because that's what he would be: a waste. But if he really is this close to playing, another few days rest could do wonders and he could actually start vs. Arg

quote:If not more. It depends on the extent of the tear. I tore mine in college. Not a strain, but a full tear. You could feel the knot. You can even jog after a couple weeks, but the moment you try to "fire" that muscle like a burst, it goes again.
