Okay I will probally get alot of heat for this but ima be honest I really don't like soccer. But once every 4 years when either the men's or women's world cup comes around I find myslef clearing for the US like I was in death valley. I love international soccer, actually I fell in love with it but can't stand club soccer. Is something wrong with me? Should I like both?

I mean you can like whatever you want but once you understand soccer you quickly realize that the club game is far better in almost every aspect. I think most of us got into soccer via the international tournaments and such, it's fun and all but really it's just offseason filler for me at this point.

I started the same way, but then I started following teams that had americans and also keep track of how our UMSNT players (or potential players) are rising through the ranks of club soccer.

It's also pretty interesting following a 17-19 year olds careers to eventually see them kicking arse for the US of A one day. It's like college recruiting but on a global scale.

Yes. Please consult your physician.

But really, no. International competition makes gymnastics and swimming relevant once every four years. Certainly could imagine it having the same effect on soccer if you didn't really care for soccer.

My soccer love actually started by watching France in the World Cup during an abroad program (I'm embarrassed to admit this), which transitioned into me becoming a die-hard USA supporter. I love Arsenal, my favorite club team, but nothing gets me more excited than watching the US of A.

I bought FIFA like 02-03 no idea but it was forever ago and I was like 12 for my first laptop and that's what got me first curious about the sport. I started off as a USMNT fan, but ultimately that got me into club soccer.

TBH though, there's nothing better than a competitive match for the USMNT, whether it's a lowly qualifier in the first few rounds of WC qualifying or a WC final match, I get just as hyped.

Bingo. I hope I'm getting downvoted for being a France supporter and not for loving the US. Must be a rough day in the office for some of y'all.

Nah. You dont have to like both. However, you can be a USMNT fan more than every 4 years. Theres always something going on with that team.

Tune in this Summer for the gold cup. It's a regional tournament for North American and Caribbean teams that the US takes part in.

I disagree...

I get hyped as frick for WCQ's, Gold Cup matches, etc.

For World Cup matches, I'm a nervous wreck and can't function in a social setting.
