Go recruit DB’s, RB’s and WR’s that are coming out of college that don’t make NFL rosters. Add a TE or tall WR for goalie.
Great athletes are great in multiple sports. For the most part, we aren’t playing with the our best. Have a program set up to reel in these guys and let the cream rise to the top. Eventually you should be able get a few gems.
Example: Tim Ream is a 38 year old defender. My guess is there is at least 1 player on the LSU football team that won’t make a NFL roster that would be better than him in 8 months of training. Expand that to all NCAA players in a similar situation and you have at least 10-20 potentially better defenders and goalies, possibly some attackers.

Those guys may tick the athleticism and meanness boxes that our national team lacks, but there’s no way in hades they could come remotely close to mastering the technique of the game in that short of a timeframe. For our top athletes to compete at a high level internationally they’ve got to devote 100% to Futbol from age 3.

I'm no soccer guru by any stretch of the imagination, but even I can tell you that the difference between our guys and the guys of any other serious soccer nation is what I would call, for lack of a better term, ball familiarity. They are so familiar with the ball at their feet that their every move seems fluid and second-nature. Meanwhile we look like we are struggling to keep control the ball. Athleticism is not at all the issue. It's the fact that our ball skills can't keep up with our athleticism.

Post less.
Most of the really good players internationally are id'd in their early teens. Mbappe was a teenage phenom. Everyone in Europe was trying to get Zidane bythe time he was 18. In Italy the scouts used to go to the poor areas of and look for 12 year olds like Baggio in outside Vicenza or Paolo Rossi in a small town in Tuscany or Schillaci from one of the rougher parts of Palermo.
In Brazil the best kids are playing futbol 5 on 5 on basketball courts or out on the beaches

They need to start young before playing that stuff.
Unless they become a GK. But in today's game the GK needs to be able to play with their feet.
Need to recruit the pro athletes children. They have the money for our pay to play set up.

Zidane was too slow for the Algerian team.

Would only work for a keeper.
