Atlanta is the only Southeast city MLS and Garber have mentioned by name. Falcons owner Arthur Blank wants a team, and he has included MLS in all of their plans for the new Atlanta stadium.

Too many games, lots of tickets just used as business transactions. Id bet the braves would fill up if they were a real contender again. shite i lived at turner during the summer months when i lived in ga.
Plus atlanta has a bunch of transplants. But for people in
La, dynamo would still be closer.
I know this is diff, but during the olympics, those soccer games in athens were filled up. Not to mention club soccer is fricking huge there.

b/c its true, there is a reason why the MLS has been slow on expansion in the south. I know ATL is a shite sports town but market wise it makes sense. You say booming hispanic population that really doesn't mean shite just look a chivas usa. The cities with huge hispanic populations that make a difference with fans are houston, dc and chicago all three have had well established hispanic populations for 30 years +

Sure. I'm not claiming NOLA really has a shot. Maybe within 20 years or so. Nashville would be terrible though.

I think NOLA would be perfect for a NASL team. That's the kind of market that league is looking for.
Atlanta's the biggest TV market MLS hasn't tapped into yet and it doesn't infringe on any MLS team's area at all (DCU would be the closest). It's got one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in America. The youth game is massive there.
And even though Atlanta is an apathetic sports town, the Silverbacks have one of the highest attendances in the NASL (over 5,000 per game...go back and forth with Carolina for second-best, if I remember correctly).
Most importantly, Atlanta has an owner and a stadium option already lined up (if MLS would be willing to let Atlanta do what Seattle has done...venue-wise, not crowd-wise...let me make that clear).

Not really. What's most important is whether or not it would be sustainable. I doubt it would. There have been plenty of failed sports teams with an owner and a stadium. I think y'all bank on the youth soccer of the Atlanta metro area too much.

A good question for everyone to ask as well is, in the next 5-10 years which city in the south do you think is the most up and coming with the most upswing
It's gotta be Nashville, and this is coming from someone whose originally from southern california so there's no regional bias

The games in the Ga Dome have been well attended. People tend to forget about the huge Latin American population here.
Also, we have A LOT of Europeans and natives of the British Isles here who would support a team.
MLS in Atlanta would work.

And back when Dallas were the Burn and played at the Cotton Bowl, they were near the top in attendance. The move to the burbs was the worst decision ever.

But the only reason you think it will fail is because it's Atlanta. Even though there's a lot of evidence to suggest that a team would work there, it's still not going to work in your opinion because it's Atlanta.

Charlotte should be in consideration. Seems like more of a soccer town than Atlanta. Reminds me of Columbus
