It’s possible to both think Poc did a terrible job in many ways and also think he did a good job making the final.
I’m some ways it’s like congratulating a guy who tied his own hand behind his back for only getting beaten up and not knocked unconscious in a fight.
The squad selection was puzzling. The lack of rotation puzzling. Lots of questions and negative ones at that.
How much of it was him saying he knows what certain players can do and left them out and this is a chance for a whole bunch of new faces to show they belong. Many showed they don’t yet belong. But a few from this tournament will definitely make the World Cup squad.
Now if he keeps calling up the ones who clearly don’t belong at the expense of others the questions become answers.
Poch didnt inherit a good situation at all. Anyone who thought he would instantly fix things was delusional. He has not shown he’s the guy to this point. I’m leaning towards him not ever being the guy. I don’t see how they can fire him a year ahead of the cup though.

This past (fixture-congested) season was the most he, a player prone to injury, has ever played - by far - and it will be his last meaningful break until after the World Cup which will inevitably be mentally exhausting for him specifically
Honestly I don’t mind guys like Pulisic, Dest, and Robinson focusing on recovery/health this summer. We need all of them as healthy as possible for a deep WC run.

Agyemang running TOWARDS Tillman on the counter. What a fricking moron.
Reading through this thread for the first time and legit lol’d at this, because I said the same thing, jumping to high heaven out of seat and shouting at my TV.

Yeah that run brought him not only away from goal but also brought another defender towards Tillman

You don't win with dudes like that. You win with dogs.

Partially agree, but Robinson had surgery and Dest is coming off of an ACL injury and still isn’t healthy and actually had an injury again yesterday that caused him to come off early in a preseason game. Can’t make a good WC run if all the dogs are limping.

This would sound a lot stupider if there wasn’t precedent for this sort of thing.

I think the whole thing with CP could've been easily handled and understood if he would've just came out with a statement or something proactively vs leaving it to the roster announcement and the coach to have to explain away. Then he went all summer posting all the Puma photoshoots and saying "man it feels good to be back" this week as Milan began training, which is either extremely tone deaf or he is trolling (maybe both).
Either way, the whole summer was US soccer in a nutshell.
