Parents went to Napoli and Sicily. I wanted them to buy me an authentic "calcio" jersey. I sent them with two pictures of suitable jerseys.

Rule #1: Don't ever walk into a Napoli fan shop flashing a photo of a #10 Roma jersey. My parents (who know little about even LSU, much less Serie A!) said the reaction was as instant and vehement as asking for a Bo Wallace jersey at Tiger Mania. Three Guidos jumped over the counter so that they could "educate" my parents.

Rule #2: It is wise to check current rosters before sending someone to buy a jersey of a player who no longer plays for a team. I had no idea that Edinson Cavani ( the only Napoli player I knew of) had transferred to PSG. I'm an idiot!

Well, they got me the #7 Napoli jersey with Cavani's name on the back after MUCH protest from the Guido salesmen. They escaped unharmed, and lived to explore the rest of Napoli and Sicily.

Napoli is a sketch-arse city, but they have the best pizza I've ever eaten.

A vendetta could be out.

Probably didn't help that they lost to Roma last Friday

So what? You were trying to get your parents attacked in a foreign country?

Which jerseys were they trying to get your parents to buy? I'm guessing Hamsik, Higuain, or Inler.

I wasn't trying! It apparently almost happened though!!

They couldn't remember, but it was obvious that the Guidos were adamant about it. I can only imagine what it looked like: three greasy Neapolitans waving their arms, cursing in Italian, and being rude to my parents at the mere mention of Francesco Totti or that traitor Cavani. I would have loved to have been there...

They really don't need to be messing around in napoli IMO.

Stick to the touristy sections and head north at your earliest convenience.

When my girlfriend asked what shirt I wanted while in Italy and listed the cities, a Michael Bradley Roma shirt was my first thought. I made sure to educate her on where to get it to avoid this sort of thing. Basically, it came down to her finding a Roma shop and thinking that that was probably a pretty safe bet to purchase it.

This is pretty spot on from what she described it as this summer.

The only two things you need to know about this city.
