If he slows down dramatically, he'll *still* be a step faster than 3/4 of the players he steps on the field with.

Most of the time, he looks like he's moving at about 60% speed.

Will be entirely up to him, I imagine. He'd be 37-38 in the run up to the 2018 World Cup. Keepers are usually fine until that age.

Buffon will be 36 in January and might still be the best GK in the world.

Not including Besler and GAM since they were just called up and are in great standing with JK. I think the definites are...

– LandyShades starting on the wing
– Run DMB starting LB (unless Shades is on the LW and Fab Johnson moves back to LB)
– Rimando as the third GK taken behind Howard and Guzan
– Corona as a bench winger and/or mid
– Goodson as a third or fourth defender behind Besler and Gonzales

The ones on the bubble are...

– Holden as a bench mid (all depends on how he does this season with Bolton IMO. He is in good standing with JK though).
– Mix as a bench mid (like Holden, it all depends on if he can keep this momentum up).
– Beckerdreads as a bench mid (I hate to say it but Jurgy loves that fricker for whatever reason).
– Wondo as a bench striker (depends on what he continues to do as well as Herc, this next batch of WCQ's will be interesting)
– Torres as a bench LW and/or mid (He has stepped up as of late. His kicks on set pieces are still nasty but he may be a victim of depth)

I think Howard in 2018 will be dependent on how well guzan is playing. He filled in really well when Howard was hurt and he has a great year this past season at villa.

I think both Rimando and Beckerman go, to push the bejesus out of the others in training.

After the saves Rimando has made in this tournament, I can assure you Guzan feels him breathing down his neck for the #2 spot.

Rimando, yes there is no doubt he is going unless injury forces Johnson or Hamid to be the third GK.

Beckerdreade, I don't know. In terms of the midfielder depth chart, he is for sure behind Bradley, Jones and Cameron.

He is in a group with Edu, Holden and Mix where only 1 or 2 will be taken from that.

I just don't see how Beckerman can possibly be in the list of 23.

He and Edu (and Danny Williams?) are the only midfielders we have that are strictly disruptive/hard-tackling/defensive midfielders.

Bringing seven less skilled versions of Michael Bradley isn't the best idea in the world.

isnt that Jones role?

If it is, nobody ever told Jones that.

I want Cameron to grow into that role this year in the EPL if he can't get better at RB.

His size and athleticism set him apart.

Cameron fits that mold too and he will most definitely be in the squad. As for Edu and Beckerdreads, I'd rather Edu – if he's healthy.

I don't necessarily want Beckerdreads to be on the WC roster (Cameron's emergence as a DM could keep him out) but I'd take Kyle over Edu. He's clearly technically better and his positional discipline makes up for his absurd lack of athleticism.

I'm not even sure that I'm watching the same games in this tournament as most people when it comes to Beckerman. He's been pretty good this tournament and should be an easy pick for the first 11 in the final rounds.

The only change I would make is GAM for Wondo.

I'll admit, His last two games have been much better.

GAM will be on the team regardless. It's between Wondo, Herc and Boyd for that last striker spot.

I guess I wasn't really paying attention to the thread title, I just meant for the Gold Cup semi finals/final when it comes to GAM starting over Wondo.

I like Wondo, he's a legit finisher, but GAM just does more for the team outside of scoring goals.

I think he looks bigger when he's surrounded by Central American 12 year olds in blue shirts. El Salvador looked similar in size to my middle school basketball team.

Yep GAM is versatile and our most athletic striker behind Jozy. If that back line starts to creep up he can certainly run them off.

And I guess I will put this question here - going forward if we use the lone striker up top as the target man (a la Jozy in the last few WCQs) is GAM the next best man suited for that role? He excels over all others in strength and speed. Haven't seen much of his hold up play so maybe someone can comment on that. Love to hear some thoughts.

Forgive my ignorance but ...

GAM = Eddie Johnson, right?

What does the GAM stand for?
