DMB is almost assuredly our first team LB

Starting 11 or as backups also?

GAM has to be on the Brazil squad.

ETA: Matt Besler is our best centerback right now.

Definite: Landon, Besler, Gonzalez, Beasley, Rimando, Johnson.

On the Bubble: Corona, Shea, Holden, Wondo

I assume first team means 23 man roster.

If we wrap up a spot to Brazil early I'd like to see some of these guys come back.

Wondo?

DMB?

GAM?

Shea?

I mean, this is the "B" team (so they say), and 1 year ago, the "A" team would have been hard pressed to score 5 goals against Catholic High School, much less a Latin American team.

It's taken a while, but Jurgy's plan is starting to take shape rather well. USMNT has scored 16 goals this tournament. They probably didn't score 16 in all of 2012.

ETA: yes, I mean the 23 man WC squad.

to be fair, he has been playing LW a bunch. Though with Landon back, probably wise to move him back.

i think fabes is up top, DMB is back, and dempsey or donovan play support striker / wide right (and yes i know it's more likely landon plays out there)

Just looked it up:

USMNT scored 35 goals in 14 games in 2013 (so far)

USMNT scored 27 goals in 14 games in 2012

USMNT scored 16 goals in 17 games in 2011

If we wrap up a spot before the last match at Panama I'd love to send a D team down there and give them a free 3 points if it keeps Mexico either out of the WC or puts them in the playoff spot in 4th.

If Eddie Johnson isn't I won't watch... younger brother played against him for years, and once ej quit the other football the younger brother played on his team from 14-18. Been watching dude kill it since was like 8

I'd be ok with a loss in that situation

I think Mix has been pretty consistently good, more so than Holden.

IMO, Landon, Beisler, Gonzalez, Rimando, DMB, GAM are locks

Maybes: Mix, Wondo, Corona, Shea, Torres and Holden

Just don't see how players like Orozco, Castillo, Beckerman, Parkhurst and Goodson can make it. Goodson has a bit of a chance I suppose since our CB pool still is rather limited.

As has been said many times now on this board, our new found depth is pretty amazing. Have to be really optimistic going forward even as players like Howard, Dempsey, Landon, and Beasley are too old for international soccer when the next WC rolls around.
