Yes. But it seems that the stat is beginning to be wrong, since Jozy has scored goals in the last three LD-less games.
It had to have been a small sample size for a stat.

I'd love for us to be in a situation where we have both LD and CD in the squad, and move LD to a support striker role while playing CD wide left, like he did his last two years at Fulham. With Zusi wide right, the crosses he gets into the box would not only be aimed at Altidore but also at the late arriving Dempsey, who excels at those late runs into dangerous positions. Donovan can make the classic move from the wing to a support striker role and can benefit from great hold up play from Jozy.

I just can't get on board with this at all. Donovan's a winger, he's not a number 10. Clint can play both, but he's been great playing underneath Jozy, and it's where he's been playing for Spurs.
seems like this is just screwing up a good thing. In my eyes, it's Zusi or Donovan, not Zusi and Donovan.

Donovan's legs can't carry him out there on the wing forever. He's got greater longevity centrally.

LD played some LW for Everton.
Why is everyone OTB so intent on moving Fabian out of that position. Outside of the Germany game, where he was only slightly above average, he's been great for the offense, IMO.

I agree, he's been good. But, not better than the other 3 imo. Whatever the case, I think having more quality options than positions on the pitch is telling of our progression.
As I said the other day in a thread, I think we are seeing the evolution of quality on our bench now. We have more players capable of starting than spots to start them. Whoever plays, in whatever position Jurgy decides, it's a good thing.

This might be my Dynamo bias coming out, but I think Boniek is a stud. I think he'd start for the Yanks if he was American. He's like the Cazorla for the Dynamo in that he can create space where nobody else can.

I agree with Crazy. I've been begging to see LD in a support striker role, or play the fast man to Jozy's hold up play.
I think our best bet on offense is this:

While I agree messing up a good thing isn't ideal, the experiment should be tried. Donovan isn't a traditional winger by any means, as in he rarely gets to the byline. He's an attacking midfielder who combines with other players through the center. While Dempsey plays as a CAM for Spurs, let's not forget he scored 17 PL goals in his last season with Fulham playing as an LM/Auxillary No. 10 who specialized in late runs into the box.
In addition, moving Donovan to a SS role means we can take advantage of his fantastic vision at the same time his legs go out on him. He's one of our most intelligent players, and uses the ball more efficiently in the attacking third more efficiently than anyone we have right now. He wouldn't be the first winger to move to a central position in his 30's. In fact that's a pretty standard move for aging wingers.
Also, while what we have right now seems to be working, it's working against CONCACAF opposition, as well as Germany's B team. If we want to make a run in the WC, we will have to field our best players, have them find a working relationship, and be injury free.

In fact, only 15 players were available to train when the Honduran team convened for a training camp in San Jose, California on Thursday.
Boniek Garcia still hasn’t been ruled out for Tuesday, but if he can’t play, that would make at least five Honduran starters from their February win against the U.S. who won’t be playing in Tuesday’s rematch. Bengtson’s departure from Honduras camp is making major headlines in his native country, with media criticizing his decision to go AWOL, as well as questioning whether Honduras head coach Luis Suarez was right to leave the team’s leading scorer in World Cup qualifying on the bench in the team’s last match.
While Bengtson’s absence captures the headlines, the fact that Honduras will be without starting centerbacks Bernardez and Figueroa is especially troubling for the Catrachos considering how well U.S. striker Jozy Altidore is playing right now. The U.S. will have some absences as well, with Beasley suspended and Jermaine Jones still a question mark as he recovers from a concussion (Note, Tim Howard is NOT suspended for the match. That rumor was making the rounds, but the yellow card he received vs. Panama was his first of qualifying). The Americans have good cover for those absences though, with Edgar Castillo and Geoff Cameron all ready to step in.

Donovan is by far the best passer/serviceman out of anyone in the pool. Zusi is a good option on the wing, but a motivated/fit Landon >>>>>> Graham Zusi.
