I’m going to have to think about it and review the reality of that to what end, to what purpose. Perhaps maybe Jurgen doesn’t even want to have me on the national team anymore, so it might not even be my decision. I haven’t decided anything yet. I haven’t even really thought about that direction. I should, at some point.

Obviously me being not selected is not going to want me to wish any malice on the U.S. team. It’s not the players’ fault. I definitely wish them much success. They have three hard games ahead of them, definitely games they can get results out of. I’m hoping for the best in their campaign and anxiously awaiting for the tournament to begin.

He really has no reason to be upset.

Yeah I was really hoping for Gooch to get back in the fray. He looked good for Wednesday but ultimately it was too little too late. JAB is younger and better, but I wonder if Gooch's international experience could have helped us.

If you can't get a game for QPR then you really don't deserve to play for the USMNT.

That's an asinine statement considering he went to QPR when their defense was already the best in the Championship. Have you followed him at Wednesday? He's been very solid. I would have called him in over Parkhurst, but then again I would have called in Ream over both of them.

In all fairness I havn't followed him at Wednesday. And you are correct it is a complete shame that Ream did not get the call. I would rather have Ream then Gonzalez.

Edit to say: I swear I heard a story that the reason QPR got him was because Jurgen told Redknapp that he was going to be in the WC team. So I wonder if Jurgen is mad that he stuck out his neck to get him in the squad then for whatever reason Gooch didn't make a very good impression.

Younger, yes. Better? I'm not convinced.

If you were to graph their ability (whatever that means), I feel that they'd be at the exact same point, with Gooch declining and Brooks ascending.

18 months from now, I think Brooks is the better all around player.

Give me JAB over Gooch every day. Gooch just does not have the legs to play at the international level any more.

That's the problem. And check out the goals scored against us against Ukraine. Brooks is hustling back to defend the empty net and Gooch is not.

Also, there is a reason Brooks is playing in the Bundesliga and Gooch isn't.

While both looked like shite, Gooch lookde the better of the two against Ukraine.

I think Parkhurst is going to get abused out there if he starts.

I'm not so sure about that. In general is was a shitty pairing. You don't put two tall, immobile centerbacks together.

Well his playing time and form has been a rollercoaster anyone who watches the Bundesliga on the regular will tell you that.

I don't think that was by choice. Off the top of my head, I can't recall who else we called in on defense. Ream, but he didn't show because of the birth of his son. Wasn't Packwood called in?

Barring injury, I think its pretty safe to assume that Parkhurst will not start a single game, if he even makes the squad.

And Parkhurst plays outside for us so it's not like they're competing for the same position anyway. Gooch is behind Besler, Omar, Cameron, Goodson and now JAB at CB

title seems unfair and almost insulting. The article states he was gutted. After reading you just get the sense he is sad, not angry anymore.

Not so much mad as really hurt. Tough when this shite happens -as it does to every athlete sooner or later.

Agree on Tim Ream.
