Ghana's defense is bad and they should feel bad

Did anyone watch the highlights from the Ghana/Netherlands game?
While I'll admit that the Oranje are always a solid squad (Euro 2012 omitted), Ghana's defense was disorganized and just plain woeful. Sure, maybe the Dutch would do the same to our back line, but I have to say that watching this gave me a bit more hope for a positive result.
That said, I'm trying not to read too much into since I don't think Ghana has even picked their final 23 yet (well, as of that game).
In other news, Kolo Toure got malaria.

Geez, how was that game not 4-0.
What I don't know is if Ghana was experimenting at all in formation, tactics, players, etc.
And we don't have the skill or movement to do everything the Dutch did.

I saw multiple tweets that Ghana was only using 75% of their expected starting line up.

They're pretty bad.
They also lost a defender, Jerry Akaminko, to injury during the match. He'll be out for the World Cup.

How in the hell had he not contracted Malaria before? Isn't it just something they treat and you have it forever? I know the flair ups continue but rarely happens. Just confused as to how an African took so long to contract it.

No. Malaria is a parasite and once you take the drugs they give you (chloroquine, mefloquine) it kills the parasite but I'm pretty sure you can still get reinfected, if the parasite is a different strain (different antigens). There are several strains out there. That's my best guess. Not entirely sure.

They looked better once Boateng and Ayew (I think) came on. Fairly sure that Muntari and Asamoah Gyan didn't play at all. IOW, their defense may be suspect, but we didn't see nearly their best attack against the Dutch.

I was underwhelmed with their performance. The back line takes a lot of risks abandoning their position and coming in to the midfield to try and win balls well leaving the other defenders high and dry and fouling a good bit.
Also, their forwards and attacking midfielders press very high and hard up the field. Our defenders will have to be on their toes to get the ball off their feet. Of course it will also be up to our midfielders to move and give them passing angles.
All in all, Ghana became a more winable in my mind after their game yesterday. That is not to say, however, it will be an easy game by any means.

I think that Grantland preview said they only gave up 3 goals in all of qualifying. I know competition isnt super strong for them, but that number doesn't suck.

Yeah. Lesotho, Zambia and Sudan were in their group, and then they crushed Bradley's Egypt team. A relatively easy path, but only three allowed goals is eye-opening.
