you know anything about club soccer?
do fans of other English clubs not root for English clubs to win Champions League finals? Even if they’re normally rivals in the league?

Do English Man City fans not root for England even if they happen to have a few United players?

A good manager and investing in your youth academy and development of players can tho

Hard to make money in a league once the major money makers leave

how would these clubs not still be selling clubs?

and how would they not be selling to the super league?

nothing on that level would change

Bc it’s part of a pathway to more money and exposure to play vs the big boys

A clubs long term plan isn’t to just always sell players bc eventually they will have a crop that don’t pan out and they suck

It’s not sustainable

Even selling clubs buy established pros so they can be competitive

The super league would just use mid table first team players as their squad players bc the money gap. They will be able to pay so much more in wages compared to the other leagues who’s wages will take a huge cut

Don’t know how some of y’all don’t understand a super league will kill soccer leagues

I bet they’ll survive though

I don’t know if you’re grasping that a lot of clubs aren’t necessarily trying to win the Premier League or whatever. Some are just happy to stay up or finish in the top half.

And question. At what level is it acceptable to root for a club that you’ll never face otherwise or compete in the same league as? Marine had an average attendance of 275 in tier 8, should those people not also root for Everton or Liverpool? I bet most of the E. and L. fans wanted to see them knock off Tottenham

Not even close to the same comparison
But I’ve also seen a ton of fans pull for their country and hope to god none of their rivals score

Hope this ends the dumb talk about the super league. Not sure how anyone is arguing on the side of a few billionaires that could care less about soccer and only about pocket books. (I know this applies to FIFA also. But FIFA isn’t trying to ruin every league in Europe

I guess you’d think the NFL would be better if, instead of the NFC South, the Saints had to compete first against LSU, Louisiana Tech, ULM, and Brother Martin (in that hypothetical world where they all have the same age players)
I’m glad someone liked my NFL-NCAA EPL-bundesliga comparison and doubled down on it.

Have an upvote good sir

there would be a lot more Bayern fans because then fans of other Bundesliga teams could root for them in the Super League and their own team in the Bundesliga and not feel conflicted.

C'mon man you're smarter than this.

And I know Bayern is just an example here, but the German league and the way it's teams/association is set up would definitely never participate in something like this.

I’m pretty sure the Nou Camp isn’t 100k seats to watch them play for fun

Barcelona is a fan owned club. They can have a 100k stadium because they are fan-owned. It also remains true that they are not a money making enterprise. They are a sporting club who exists to play the sport. You couldn't have chosen a worse example.

Because the tickets to see a top club in the world are free, because all you have to do is provide an email address and they’ll send you a Messi jersey I’m sure they give all that TV money back

The EPL won’t make nearly enough money as it does now if a super league is started

Your club won’t be able to afford anything close to the quality of players is does now once the big clubs are gone

Quality of players goes down. Standard of league goes down

Which means less people watch it and care about which means less money

How dense are you
