Two U.S. Soccer officials were reportedly suspended by FIFA ahead of the USMNT's game against Belgium. Team manager Sam Zapatka and U.S. Soccer vice president of security Frank Pannell were reportedly suspended ahead of that game, per Front Office Sports.

It's unclear what led to those suspensions. A spokesperson from U.S. Soccer directed all inquiries from Front Office Sports to FIFA, which declined comment. The U.S. Soccer spokesperson did, however, acknowledge the suspensions.

Very bizarre. I’ve heard good things about Pannell from people who’ve interacted with him. Hopefully we learn more about what went down.

Honestly... whats the goal here?

Are yall really trying to piss US fans off to the point where we don't care about the sport anymore?

Balogun didnt deserve the red card. The right decision was made. It didnt affect the game. There is no asterisk.

Just shut the frick up

Half the article is trying to insinuate its over the suspended sentence for Balogun.

You know what you're doing.

Americans enjoyed themselves for once in regards to soccer and that enraged a lot of eurotrash.

"FIFA also released a 13-point statement from its disciplinary committee announcing punishments for Balogun and U.S. Soccer after Balogun was seen celebrating on the field following the team's win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since Balogun was given a red card earlier in the match, that was a violation of FIFA rules."

1+1= Unclear
This happened after this highly controversial call and overturn.

2 is the number directly after 1.

We asked all parties what 1+1 equals. They acknowledge it is a number but we cannot comment on what 1+1 equals.

Message Board: this 1+1 thing is super fishy.

Message Board 2: you would say this is super fishy

Message Board: How am I saying it's fishy by reporting that it's fishy.

Message Board 3: Liberals

Message Board 4: 1+1=2, the journalist either doesn't say it to make it sound fishy, or he is an idiot.

This thread has really gone off the rails. Y’all got beef with Eurocat or something?

FIFA suspended them for letting Balogun back on the pitch after the match which is against article 66. So the Team manager and VP of security are suspended. Seems pretty cut and dry.

I had no idea that a player receiving a red card could not celebrate with the team after the game.

Why is the head of security being punished for this?

They are banned from being back on the pitch or even the bench.

You often see them reappear back up in the stands with injured players and where Mourihno managed from with his poorly hidden cell phone and pass it on notes during his 10,000 suspensions.

I suppose the head of security is the one responsible for enforcing that.

I knew they couldn’t be on the bench but not even being able to celebrate with the team after the game on the field seems a bit much. I can see why this would be enforced for violent conduct though.

Probably happened after a lot of players came out to have a chat with the referee that sent them off.

Given the result, in hindsight Balogun should have said, : Naaaaah that's OK I'll voluntarily serve the suspension....don't overturn it.....I don't want to be involved with the outcome that I think is coming."
