Awesome story. Love reading stuff like that.

Well, except for the part where the United fans didn't invite you to OT.

Jumped around supporting Chelsea (was my FIFA team) and Fulham (Americans) without really enjoying following either too much. Was a big WFD listener and Steven Cohen's falling out with Chelsea soured me to the club, even if Cohen can be dramatic.

Lost interest in Fulham when Dempsey left. Buddy is a big Arsenal fan, so I gave them a shot and have kind of been hooked since. Love the style of play and the nature of the club.

I'll probably end up sticking with Arsenal.

Any Arsenal supporters on the board owe any gratitude to Nick Hornby?

I read Fever Pitch in the mid 90s, but at the time wasn't really too interest in footy enough to follow Arsenal... the '94 WC was really the first time I ever had an interest in the game...

I'm an Arsenal fan but I've never read Fever Pitch. Should I?

I owe my allegiance to the French national team. Always had an interest in the language and was in France for the elimination stages of the 2006 WC. Obviously after the US went out I was rooting for France. Then I started playing FIFA and wanted to play with Thierry Henry, and plus Arsenal had recently had another one of my favorite players, Vieira, and had Gallas and Sagna. Plus their coach was French, so that kind of sealed the deal for me. I'm also attracted to their style of play.

Yes.

I became an AS Roma fan when I moved to Rome after finishing college and started going to matches. I'd first spent some time in Cagliari and continue to go back so I always have a bit of soft spot for them but Roma's Curva Sud converts almost anyone who enters.

2002 WC was when I started watching soccer. The USMNT win over Mehico got me hooked.

Always tried to follow the biggest teams like ManU and Real until a few years ago, when Theo Walcott came to me in a dream and told me I should be an Arsenal fan. So then I started following them, and sure enough, I liked them much better.

The WC 2002 opener vs Portugal is the first point I remember thinking, OK, soccer isn't all that lame. That is one of my favorite matches of all time.. and then later, the game vs Germany was the game that pisses me off more than any other to this day.

Noticed Liverpool had the largest # of followers on here (and the best fans). Followed Liverpool. Love Liverpool.

Profit.

It was the 1998 World Cup that got me interested in the sport. It wasn't a good cup for the US but bit worldwide events have always been an interest of mine and the WC is just majestic.

I have a few times, and also in the matchday threads. But as you can tell, I just don't post much at all.

This.

I played as a kid, but I didn't really pay much attention to the sport until FIFA: Road to the World Cup 98 and the 98 World Cup. Beckham was playing for United and was the only player I knew so I played with England. That evolved into an interest in United, and it just grew from there. I remember I got the Internet around the same time and took to looking for Manchester United stuff. If I'm not mistaken, Cantona was retiring around the time I started taking interest. I didn't know shite about their success of anything. I just liked a few players and stuck with it.

I was a 9 year old bandwagoner United fan. I regret nothing.

Stewie Griffin, LOVED WFD!!!
I was already a FFC supporter, but indulged in liking Steven. Once I chose FFC, I was done. I'm not going to keep changing, now, would love to see some Yanks back there as I have a hard time liking Stoke.
