Are really crying about something being "not fair" because there is no seeding? What's fair about a team like City, Chelsea, United etc... playing Port Vale and Kidderminster?

That thought processes is exactly why brits and euros think we don't know shite about the game. Always trying to "amercian" everything.

This is literally one of the worst arguments I've ever seen on this board. Since 1992, there have been only three winners of the cup that weren't big money clubs. If we go back to 1980, there are only five winners. You could even argue that it was only four, as Everton in 1984 was the winner of the First Division.
You can have problems with the lack of seeding, but extrapolating from Wigan's win last year, and the seeding this year is just being intellectually dishonest.
ETA: You could say that Portsmouth was big money in 2008 as well, as they spent themselves into bankruptcy to get the cup. Their reappearance on the verge of bankruptcy in 2010 is an underrated narrative.

The lack of seeding is interesting. Just think if in the basketball tourney Duke and Kentucky had to play in the first or second round?
it only happens in europe bc the government subsidizes the BBC so they don't have to depend on rights fees
of course it does lead to big matches all throughout the tournament. the NCAA tournament ratings would be better if marquee matchups were spread out among every round instead of being concentrated at the end. it might also help the cinderellas get to the final four

it's about logic and rationality as it applies to title determination. diverging from that is bad for title determination
people are just defending it b/c it's different. american soccer fans are obsessed with doing things differently than american sports, b/c they see it as cultured (or it may just be the whole "i want to be different!" angle of soccer in the USA)
i don't care if you "want to be different", but even with that, you have to admit it's a shite way to determine a champion
