Selling David Luiz for 40M while getting Fabregas for 27M and Costa for 32M is brilliant work. Especially when you consider that United signed Luke Shaw for 30M and di Maria for 60M.

He may be a better fit for Arsenal, but for the same price, I'd take Balo all day (not a fan of DW, though he seems like a likeable guy)... There would have been a price that I'm sure wouldn't have been worth the gamble and he may still end up not paying off... but I like it..

If you watch both players at length you can see why some would prefer Danny. Swag is much more talented but lets face it, he is fricking lazy and when shite goes wrong it goes wrong fast.

Danny is an ultimate team player, who works his arse off to help the team even when he doesn't have the ball. He is one of the best strikes that can create space for others in the EPL. He does the things lots of super stars don't like to do.

He may turn out to be your Sturridge... who knows..

could happen, we talked about this before. At a time Welbeck was probably better. Also lots of people used to bash Sturridge's character until he turned everything around.

I get why people would be turned off by Balotelli... I wasn't 100% convinced at first, but have decided to embrace his talents and hope he becomes the player he can be... If nothing else, it will be a helluva ride..

IMO and by your description, there is not much difference in Welbeck and a Borini (for example)... I should probably clarify by saying, that I don't like DW to become a top 4 starting #9 (when I said not a fan)... I think he could have a place in many teams, but as a starter, I feel mid-table is his level...

O we know, you defended Suarez to a point it was, well you get the point.

His performances for United esp in the Champions league would say other wise.

Your management disagrees

But I'll also acknowledge the role we expect out Balo and what Arsenal want from Welbeck may be two different things and in the end, maybe each got what they needed...

Yet SAF loved him. He just doesn't fit with LvG and his system. LvG must have thought he was good to slap a price tag like that on him. Arsenal management clearly thinks he is good enough along with about 4 other teams in the league.

Sir Alex picked him for quite a few big games (over Rooney once IIRC). i didn't love him at ManU so I'm not going to act like i'm super thrilled and expecting great things, but i'm at least slightly optimistic. interested to see what he could do at CF, especially with the rest of our attacking front. think that alone will result in a slight uptick in scoring.

it's a bit apples/oranges comparing the two fees with the English premium. as is, for someone with his overall impact + potential, i think it's a very good fee for us and creates more spaces for foreign additions.

In your words, he's a hard working, versatile striker... what system does that not fit?

Arsenal love him so much they plotted, schemed and devised a plan all summer for an 11th hour move to snag him out from under your noses, right?

I get it, you like him, hate to see him leave, he's one of your favorites... I felt the same about Agger, but he's gone and we move on..

Have a nice day

Thats what I assume... and I'm an optimist myself!

For the record, I'm just upholding my long standing relationship of banter with SCH (though I do believe most of what I say)

clearly not LvG's system

If you think he is no more than a mid table striker than you clearly didn't see enough of him or just watch Liverpool.

LVG didn't rate him, he saw the need to bring in another, in his eyes, better striker... so he did. It's simple as that.

Giroud got hurt and Arsenal had to add another striker in a matter of days, in a limited market, so they did... it's as simple as that.

they took a chance... I admit that we took a chance on Mario after we couldn't get our top target(s) for a myriad of reasons.. whether it was £, they didn't want to be here, think we suck or whatever..

Well i mean when you have a good striker in Welbeck and a world class one on the table anyone will do that.

Actually, I would argue you are one of the very few, if not only club, that would have done what you did for Falcao... The money and risk involved would suggest LVG doesn't rate Welbeck (or Chicharito)... It also may say something for his faith in the two that stayed, as well..

There were many reports that Falcao snubbed a Liverpool loan.

He may have, though I doubt we would have been able to stump up what was wanted from Monaco and him... I know we inquired..

edit: there was debate in the LFC thread when we are inquiring about him and Balo as to what deal we would like... I said all things considered, Balotelli.. for the combination of talent, age, money and risk involved.. There were a few others that would have preferred Falcao..

To be honest, the one player you signed that I would have loved is Di Maria... def over Falcao.. I think he's a big time difference maker!

It was pretty obvious he had his heart set on Madrid... For whatever reason they decided not to go for him.. I have to believe LFC and Arsenal would not have paid that.. City may have, but in the end, they had a pretty fricking good strike force... You guys obviously still have the draw, with name and £, to get a player like him in with no CL... I have no doubts he will score goals for you guys, I'm just glad you can probably only play 2 of those forwards at the most...
