England trip next summer- Soccer Q

Hey guys, im a soccer novice but slowly trying to get into the EPL.
Im planning to go to England and Paris next Summer for my 40th birthday.
i was telling someone this yesterday and they are a soccer nut and they told me there is a huge European soccer event all next summer. He couldn't remember the details so i was curious what it was and how it could effect my trip.
Any advice or tips is appreciated. I would love to see a game, but not at the expense of inflated flights and hotels of course.

Euro 2020 is next summer. Usually it’s in one host country but next year there are 12 hosts. If you miss that you can catch some preseason games in July.

Euro 2020 will run next shine/July
It’s all over the shop and Wembley will have atleast 5 games, also games in Scotland and Ireland.
I don’t think Paris have any

like the others said the Euros will be going on
travel in England and on main land Europe is pretty easy by rail. Prices are not bad if you book early enough in advance or travel on non peak hours.
rates will without a doubt go up unless you make your bookings for hotels/AirBnbs now
London is not a cheap city to get a hotel in any time of year.

Get off at trocadero, go up the stairs, turn left and walk till you see the best view in any city in the world.

Oh snap. Plan on doing Scotland too
How big of a deal is this compared to the World Cup and Champions league?
You think this will impact flights and hotels?

That is pick-pocket central at night when the lights pop off. Just FYI.
ETA
Go do a tour at Stamford Bridge. Take the tube to Fulham Broadway, walk out of the station and go left. The stadium is about 300 yards down the street on the left. It sits down in a low lying area so it you won't see it until you get to the gate.
Non-soccer related...
Edinburgh- visit the Queen's yacht Britannia. Also do a ghost tour.
London- war rooms and scope out the vault at the Hard Rock (the original).
Dublin - Guiness tour.

true... but i always carry a cross shoulder sac when i'm in europe, france particularly
just avoid easter european looking people and you should be fine. my parisian friends and i do a traditional midnight picnic on the champ de mars whenever i'm in town and we've never had problems.

... and children, always avoid children in paris. no matter how cute and innocent they seem, there is always an adult nearby who will steal your shite

The Euros are a Big. fricking. Deal.
Arguably better to watch than the World Cup because of the higher level of play and fewer random arse third world teams. Not quite the same prestige obviously because it’s limited to Europe and not global but still.
As far as comparisons to the CL ... I’m not sure. Without researching I’m fairly confident that CL garners more viewers ... but I prefer national competitions far more than club competitions.
Anecdote time -
Summer 2016, I’m in Amman, Jordan ... it seemed like EVERYONE was watching the Euros. I could hear yelling and shouting echoing off the buildings of my neighborhood every time someone scored. The local cafes and hookah spots were packed with people watching the Euros. And this is in the Middle East.
One of the most memorable things about my time in Amman was actually that experience of watching the games with the locals everyday.
Same thing in Beirut, Lebanon this past summer. The countries team is fricking trash and didn’t make it in the WC, but the whole country basically shut down for a month for the WC.

Hit Manchester if you can. It is pretty working class but a solid spot. London had the history and all, but I honestly enjoyed Manchester more.

Book all of your shite now. It's already crazy there during the summer, the soccer will just bring more people out.
London is already the most visited city in the world. Add a soccer tournament, and yeah.
