Which n00b went double or nothing with Italy? Looking good for that Benjamin.

Side note: IF Italy wins I'm mos def going watch the match in North Beach (the little Italy of SF).

Agreed. I understand Jogi's thinking but he Ozil needs to be in the center rather than out wide like he was.

Who looked good/poor, weak strategy/wrong players on the pitch?

De Rossi was fantastic. Midfield battle was even which takes neutralized Germany's usual advantage.

Cassano owned Hummels for the cross on the first goal.

Balotelli finished like he should.

Montolivo was very good. Created a lot in addition to assist on Balotelli's 2nd goal.

Oezil was great. Created a lot. Podolski just plain bad.

Even if all their fans are crying, Germany is not out of this by a long shot. Italy has injury problems and just played 120 minutes. Also, Italy doesn't have the Cannavaro's of past years to just pack back and defend.
2-2 wouldn't be surprising.

Germany easily could have scored in the first half. I don't think it's over but Italy's taken their chances and Germany wasted theirs. That's the difference; sometimes it's really easy to break down.

I agree. And see my post above about 2-2 not being a surprise.

However, the midfield and chances have been pretty even which is pretty funny after reading posts by people like that german bear guy.

thanks wm

For Hendo and whomever, I just saw Kroos started. What's the deal? I was certain Reus would start after last match. What should the midfield have been?

good thing for Germany is Italy will sit back, Balotelli is on a yellow, and Germany have plenty of attacking options to bring on up top and out wide.

No point more important than their big comeback draw vs Sunderland, led by Balo's long strike. Not to mention setting up the final goal.
