How did you feel about Suarez being hurt?
Meh, pre World Cup injuries always seem to get somebody right before the tournament.

You just saw Ronaldo play in the CL final. You've seen him play in euros. I just don't understand being an ascetic soccer fan over being a US fan. And it's nothing like rooting for a player like Suarez to get a serious injury just because. We're rooting for a thigh strain to rule him out for a couple of games. It's like rooting for someone to get yellow card accumulation
No point is rooting for any player esp a world class player to be hurt is wrong and takes away from the quality of the WC.

I'm normally all on board for a player to get hurt and not play against my team. In 40 years, people will see the USA got out of the group to the quarters or 2nd round, most won't know or remember CR7 wasn't playing.
With that said, I'm going to the game and will be sitting on row D almost behind the goal...I wanna see that fricking guy in person.

That was the argument with Suarez.
Wasn't Randy basically saying he would wish an injury on Suarez?
That's different than just being pleased that CR might not be 100% against us.

We beat Luis Figo.... we can beat CR7.

No he said in the Suarez thread he was happy he was hurt and could miss the WC

Ronaldo is banged up; Neuer, Schweinsteger, and Lahm are all dealing with injuries too. It looks like injuries are gonna be the story for this group. Hopefully we can avoid them. It will play to our advantage if we can and we NEED every advantage we can get our hands on even if it's just having our players sleep on slightly better beds.

Randy was torn to shreds by people in the Suarez thread esp Liverpool. On basically the same topic. Once again why the double standard?
Randy literally thinks Suarez is the acumen of the earth and wants the guy to die in a fire. We just don't want him to play in one game.

Even without Ronaldo Portugal are so much better than us on paper. If he's not 100% I will take it because his ability to break at speed will pose massive problems for our D every time we try to break forward.

Stop trying to justify this
not wanting to beat the best at their best is a beta male mindset

Everyone enjoys seeing the best play, no doubt. Randy and Suarez are a different animal.
I'm not "glad he's hurt", but I did a little fist pump in my head reading the news. The best player in the world might not be 100% for the game against us that we will DESPERATELY need points from, how can you not be at the LEAST, a little relieved?
I love watching him play but I'm not losing any sleep over him being hurt.

I don't want anyone to get hurt even Suarez

Well no shite, I don't think anyone here is rooting for injury.
It just puts the US in a better spot. More of a "sucks for him but....hooray for USA's hopes of getting out of the group" thing than a "screw CR" thing.

No it isn't. We are severely outmatched by Portugal in basically every position. Any advantage we can muster is important. It will take a massive amount of good fortune to get a result from either Portugal or Germany. The result is the most important thing. No one will remember if we play a team close in a year's time. Everyone talks about 2002 as our opus, but no one talks about how we went toe to toe with Italy in 2006, because we didn't make it out of the group stage. The result is paramount, and I think if you'd ask any of the players or staff that they would reiterate that fact. All this bullshite about beating the best while they are at their best is nothing but bullshite. If it wasn't, then we would have innumerable caveats next to major upsets.

If we advance, no one is going to care if Ronaldo played or not. I hope the guy is healthy by the 3rd game and plays great. I almost never get to see him play because I don't get beIn and would love to watch him, but my only desire is to get out of the group. If that means Gyan, Ronaldo, Ozil, etc. get injured, then so be it. I think the win at all costs mentality is pretty alpha. If that means Jermaine needs to two foot a bitch and slap a hoe, then he needs to keep his pimp hand strong.

Has anyone posted the Ronaldo "injustica" gif yet?

anyone happy about this is no worse than Randy and can't say shite about his ill wishes of Suarez.
There's a big difference in wishing someone would get hurt and hoping he doesn't play due to an injury he has already picked up. I think it's all a ploy so they have an excuse because the US is gonna give em dat BEATDOWN.

as i recall it, could be remembering things incorrectly, he was actually wishing/rooting for injury on suarez (and costa, but that's a different matter). i think it is very different to be relieved or happy that your team's chances to advance/win increased due to an injury that has already occurred.
frick the "want to beat them at their best" BS. injuries effect literally everything in sports. there really is no best versus best. as a neutral, i'd love to see CR7 play because he's an all-time great. it's sad he won't be there. as a US fan, it's impossible to not have some feeling of relief at seeing that news. certainly a hazy line there, but i think randy was going a bit farther than anyone in this thread has.
