I’ll get excited if we get results against full-strength full-tactics MX sides but in the current format the CCL matches are usually just a distraction for the Clausura home stretch. Less so if an MX team is out of playoff contention and is chasing a trophy for consolation in a doomed season, but that just makes their inevitable CCL victory look even worse for us.

There’s progress in now winning matches more consistently but when the other league views it as an inferior competition it’s hard to revel in victories too much. We’re still far behind.

I wish this tourney would get more attention. Unless you are a soccer fan you would never know it was even going on. Very little if any coverage or mention on Sportscenter. I enjoy the mix matches from different countries. It will never be what UCL is but hopefully can continue to grow and create some excitement.

MLS isn’t a viewership draw even when the product on TV is reasonably good, less than 20% of the teams play in it, and half the teams that do are eliminated before people realize the MLS season has even started. With the schedules misaligned and MX teams far more worried about their final season push, it’s kinda stuck where it is in prestige.

I think jumping straight to knockout round instead of having a group stage kills some of the enjoyment too. Unfortunately many fans of teams in it don’t even realize it until they’re out, having 2-3 months to stretch 6 games out would be great for interest. I’d also like to know some of the Central American champions better and maybe have a few successes to point to before my team goes 2 and Q. At the minimum would be nice to guarantee a match vs. an MX club. Unfortunately group stage is even more untenable with the calendar timing.

Dude I live in Portland (self proclaimed soccer city USA) and timber’s local radio broadcast isn’t even talking about it much less airing the game.

And MLS all being one club with franchises in different cities means I’m stuck with one crappy MLS app that is garbage. Unlike the rest of the world where each team has their own apps. Where most rock and have live audio of every game.
MLS app gives me live scores! Wow glad I have access to WiFi to get their crappy app for live scores.

I’m just hoping Portland keeps in competitive.

Edit:
I’m hoping Portland WINS. But I’ll be happy if we keep it competitive

Not a good start there. Pen right before half. Gonna have to open it up and try to at least get out with a home tie draw

Until MLS gives free rein to the clubs, they will be a step behind Liga MX. MLS hasn’t sent 1.........1 team to the Club World Tournament
