Not sure if this has been mentioned before

quote:

To be precise, £21.5 million ($26.3m) in compensation which was paid to the Seagulls, as revealed by Standard Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella. The exorbitant figure is a result of Potter being contracted at Brighton all the way through to 2025, and it is thought to be football's world record compensation sum for a manager.

The fee left Brighton's books well in the positive, posting record revenue of £174m ($213m).

Will be interesting to see how they make all this spending they’ve been doing work from an FFP perspective

They put all these new players on 5-8 year deals to spread out the transfer fees as much as possible

amortized accounting nearly renders FFP useless. and if FIFA/UEFA are going to start leaning harder on the big dogs, they’ll just sign 20 year olds to 20 year deals

not potters fault

chelsea are a pretty shite team and roster, for all the money spent. No one is consistently winning with that garbage.

Potter found himself in a no win situation, and a lot of garbage taking up spots and cash.

remember when chelsea used to sign 10-15 u-19 kids a year and lend them all out. Where are they?

What? When healthy they are a very very good squad and they buy 70 million + valued players like hotcakes.

It's a quality roster but not what it should be given the investment. If we can cut some dead weight and bring in a legit elite striker/goal scorer this summer we should be back among the top squads in Europe.

I'm sympathetic somewhat toward Potter but I also would like to see someone else brought in this summer.

You realize a lot of clubs could say this, right?

Also not sure why you’d trust the recruitment policy in place there, but that’s none of my business

Maybe, but this particular thread is about Chelsea.

Also, there aren't that many teams who are probably only one piece away from being elite.

Im sure you can spread £120 million pound striker out over a 10 year deal, may work out for 2023-24. That strategy isn’t going to serve you well in the long term though.

No argument here, I have been hyper critical of our transfer policy. It's been largely ridiculous.

he ain't going no where, unless for a gins ransom. Napoli can keep him, they dont have to sell, or need to sell him.

I think he’ll be at Chelsea, Man United, or in Spain.
