Yeah we are going to need a healthy Caicedo and Fernandez to play their tails off in the midfield. That would really suck if his injury with like :30 left in an already decided game impacted his availability/effectiveness Sunday. Need Reece to be 100% as well.

Joao Pedro have given them something to think about when it comes to strikers. Jackson’s immaturity and lack of polish at the end of runs means he’s on a short leash. If Delap were not in the picture, I’d think Jackson would be safe. Now, not so sure.

I would suggest that Jackson isn’t going anywhere just yet. January, maybe.

The African Cup of Nations is from mid-December to mid-January. I see him definitely staying at least until then.

He is still a good option at forward and wing. Pedro is as well. The difference is that Pedro is a finisher. He is clinical, like Nkuku, but…he actually fits the system. Delap is a shithowser that finds goals. I really like him as a signing. I say that we need all three of them.

Keep in mind that we were down to ZERO forwards at one point last year due to injuries.

Keeping three makes total sense, especially with the Champions League.

Lastly, competition should make all three of them better players.

Am I the only one watching this PSG vs Real Madrid semi and thinking Sunday might be a long day?

Both squads are better than us on paper.

That being said, PSG’s first two goals were gifts.

Their last two goals were to Real Madrid’s midfield not engaging.

On the 4th goal, Modric literally walked back. He never even made it onto the screen. For a player of his quality, it was a glaring lack of effort. Truly pathetic.

Real also had a ton of corners to work with.

PSG is the best team in the world right now, but today’s match wasn’t as lopsided as the score would suggest.

This.

If PSG is allowed to control the midfield, it could be 5 or 6 to 0.

If Caicedo is out, then we either see Santos (my choice), or James.

The toe poke by the plant foot was really bad luck.

The second goal he extended to cover for his lazy added midfield.

The pass went right through the space he vacated. In short, that goal wasn’t on him.

My fear is our back line. If Enzo and a gimpy Moises can’t control the midfield, it will be a long long day. What’s the word on Lavia? And will we see Essuego?

Agreed.

That being said, our midfield is MUCH better than Madrid’s.

The issue isn’t talent. Formation, however, is another story. Let’s see how Maresca handles PSG’s 3 in the middle.

I believe that he is still out.

Possibly, but I prefer Santos to him at this point. Maresca may prefer James.

Time will tell.

I really hate James in the midfield. Give Santos hefty minutes and see what he can do.

Such a waste, our team is so much better when he is bombing down the right side.

If we fall back and give up on scoring again I’m gonna be pissed. PSG has no answer for what we are doing. That back line is garbage.

Stellar first half.

It is time to talk subs.

My guesses:

Delap up top very late (obvious).

Santos in the middle (if needed). He would sub Gusto and replace RJ in his holding role. RG goes to right back. Again…late

Lavia for Caicedo - straight up swap in about the 75th.

Nico Jackson out left (Neto). I get it, he is a wildcard. That being said, he can handle their athleticism, and has played there for years prior to moving up top.

George is also a maybe.

Otherwise…we roll with what we got.
