A dominant 1st half against Benfica without a score was frustrating. But damn, that was a world class goal by RJ!

From a prior post, but it is very fitting for today’s match:

CP10 is great in space, or going at defenders one v one. However, he can be man-marked quite easily.

I hate him out wide.

3 goals in the 100+ minute of the match. Get on board boys, this upcoming season is gonna be fun.

Against a tired, deflated, undermanned opponent.

The one thing of note was that CP10 played some dime balls…
from the middle of the pitch.

He is shite out wide.

CP and Delap are gonna wreck shite in the EPL and Champions. Just added Gittens and Joao Pedro who will add depth and attacking quality. Need to add another CB and possibly keeper and we’re set for a big run. Let’s go!

Hopefully.

Delap is a better finisher than Jackson, and is a brute on the ball (a la Costa), but Jackson is quicker, and distributes better.

Pedro is a combo of the two.

As of now, Palmer seems to prefer Jackson.

That being said, if Palmer is out wide, then it doesn’t matter who is up top.

I agree.

We are closer to being a major player than many think.

What this team lacks more than anything is a nut crunching leader, especially in the back. I'd give a nut to bring back Rudiger and ride into the sunset here the way Thiago Silva did.

It was mistake letting him go.

A better player than Rudy. Much more savvy. It’s ashamed that Rudy has become a head case.

Sure. Silva, along with the great John Terry and Paolo Maldini was one of the best CBs of a generation. There is nobody out there like that to my knowledge so Rudiger is at least a wildman with ties to the club.

I don’t like that being the favorite in anything with this team, but suppose we need to get used to it.

Once this young team figures out that they can get the job done, they are going to be tough to beat. Assuming, of course, that they do so.

I like having Jackson and Pedro available for the run in.

Neto may not play tomorrow. Too overcome by the death of Jota. No Moises and no Neto means others need to step up. Might we see Essuego?

Nice win! I’m pumped about what Joao Pedro brings to this thing. And Santos. They’re fun as hell to watch. Fast paced and attacking. We have added some really nice pieces. Still need a CB and Sanchez makes me cringe but I think we’ll get that sorted out. And how about Willian? Holy shite we’re loaded. Let’s go!

If we could trade like 5 wingers for a world class CB that would be great.
