Seems like we wear teams down where they can beat us but then are too exhausted to win their next games

Of course it was a Chelsea player (disasi) who got cooked for city's stoppage time winner yesterday

Some observations from today:
- 3 points earned is huge. Blues had to win today because of what we have left (Liv, New, MU, NF). Maybe Liv will secure the EPL today and play scrubs against us? Wishful thinking I know.
- Sanchez was fantastic today. Credit where it is due because I’ve been trashing him all season.
- as good as we are in the midfield with Enzo and Caicedo (and they were very good today), Lavia strengthened it. He’s not an offensive player but our mids controlled things today and he was a big part.
- proud of Madueke who sometimes forces things and sometimes disappears. He actually played defense today and we need all 11 to play defense to beat anyone.
- good on Jackson for ending his drought. Really beautiful turn and shot. He played some good defense today as well.
-Palmer is not a factor at all. His form is poor right now and may be hitting a wall.
- Colwill and Chalobah were good today.
- Neto is so fast and dangerous. But he didn’t have any crosses today and therefore we had a poor attack.
- Cucurella was superb again. Where would we be without Marc?

No telling how we’ll end up but the guys are fighting. I hate our posture after taking a lead (possession, taking air out of the ball) because one brain fart can cause an equalizer (and almost did) and we are still limited offensively but we are still fighting for Champions League with a month to go. Let’s win Conference and have that as a fallback.

2-0 at half. Solid half. One more should close it down.

Comfortable 4-1 win. Should be able to play the entire second team on the return.

Now that Liverpool are the champs, is it wishful thinking they’ll sit everyone against Chelsea this weekend?

If the Blues are in the Champions League after that gauntlet, it will be deserved. Especially with the youngest team in the league.

My prediction always was top 5.

I stand by it.

The squad is (finally) fully fit.

Hopefully that equates to a great run in.

Lastly, in the Conference League, Betis and Fiorentina are on the opposite side, and are both good squads. Of the two, I would prefer to see Fiorentina in the final. Betis is a really good squad that is in excellent form at the moment. Those two play in Florence, with Betis up 2-1. At this point, that side is a 50/50 affair. Regardless of whomever we face in the final, neither one of those squads are rummies.

Top 5 and a trophy would be an excellent season.

Top 5 would be a very good season.

Top 6 and trophy (Europa) would be a good season.

Top 7 and a trophy (Europa) would an okay season.

8th and no trophy would be a shite sandwich.

I know he’s been such a cornerstone for us but it legit might be time for Palmer to grab some bench

Amazing the difference Lavia makes. Imagine if he was fit all season.

That was my thought as well. I don’t know what I think of Ciacedo at right back but he needs to be on the field too.

I wanted to discuss shifts, inversions, and positioning with the current squad.

1. Lavia is huge. He allows Caicedo to play as the inverted back. This allows Enzo to go forward and to distribute from an attacking position. Additionally, Madueke and Neto are both playing VERY wide. Recall when I noted that Mudryk played on a rail with chalk on his shoes, opening up space in the middle. Well, that what these guys are doing (especially Madueke!).

That means Enzo has room to find Palmer or Jackson in space. Or, those two now have space to play off of each other.

Lastly, with Caicedo and Lavia both trailing, that means that we have a most formidable first line of defense (a prime example being Caicedo reading a pass and earning a penalty late on).

In short, the make up of this squad, and how they are being utilized, makes us a formidable opponent to deal with.

Take care of biz today and Blues are in a European Cup final! Better than the alternative, I suppose.

A bit off topic given our biggest game of the year so far is Sunday, but has anyone heard any info on when mudryk can return to playing again?
