Got lucky tbh. We didn’t show anything there imo. Lucky to win.

I thought that we were easily the better team. Finishing is still suspect, but half of the missed chances were by Palmer. Jackson played well. He played withdrawn and distributed well when targeted. It was a different role than normal, and he looked quite comfortable in it. Madueke actually passed the ball a couple of times today. Sancho looked solid on the other side as well. We dominated the middle for the most part. Lastly, outside of a boneheaded play by LC, the back line and keeper play weren’t bad.
All in all a solid day.
In short, the youngest team in the league is currently 4th in the standings.
I’ll take it.

That is a crazy stat!
I guess that means two things, we haven’t been behind at halftime often, but when we are, a w wasn’t in the cards.
I still find that stat to be shocking.

especially for a club historically built on toughness and resiliency
things change I guess

That’s the most frustrating part. We dominate possession, shots on goal, corners, fouls won , etc against every team we play outside of the top 4 (and are generally even in matches against those squads) but we struggle to score and STILL allow stupid turnovers to convert to easy goals almost every match. It’s the same thing every week and doesn’t get fixed. No moves made for a striker and Enzo still fiddles with his lineup on a weekly basis. Poor substitution patterns. Stubbornly sticking with Sanchez when it’s obvious he’s not made for this league. Ownership has paid a billion dollars for this roster and we can’t find a solid 11. Haven’t beaten City, Arsenal and Liverpool in years. I’m tired of the young excuse too. Tired of struggling with bottom tier sides. Just frustrated with a lot of things.

But that's the league this year. Blues have also lost games where they dominated and were clearly the better team .

Youth = frustration.
Magic wands are for twats. This project is 6 months old and is centered around the youngest team in the league. I would suggest that you work on adjusting your expectations to the reality of the circumstances.

No moves made for a striker
Says who?
Who was available that we could afford without making multiple moves? Then, would they have been an improvement over what we currently have. Jackson has been shite on since day one, but his runs off of the ball, his distribution, and his effort have been top shelf. As for production, he is the top scorer in the league amongst players that don’t take penalties. Oh, and he is the youngest player on that list.

His subs won the last match.
He is only six months in with a huge squad. His team is in 4th. Again…realistic expectations.

A current 4th Place position says otherwise.

That’s not on this years addition. They are only responsible for the matches that they have played.

Then you choosing to ignore reality seems like the source of your frustration.
I’m bullish on the future.
I was a Chelsea fan when Zola was there. I’m glad I didn’t shite on these guys when they showed up:

Guiu out for weeks and maybe months according to Enzo. We are snakebitten.

going to see Nkunku get some reps at Striker

I don't profess to be adept at tactics or appropriate skill sets; but, I think that Madueke could play some 9. He is all offense, no defense and there are plenty of other wingers on the roster to fill his spot.

Perhaps.
Then again, outside of the Conference League, he basically saw no field time.
He is talented, but VERY young.
His runs off of the ball were reactionary, and his distribution was average. These things aren’t surprising given his age.
He did, however, give incredible effort. The dude has a great future imho.
On another note, his injury may be why we didn’t move Nkuku out. Don’t be surprised to see both he and Jackson on the field together at some point.
My guess (hope) is that the gaffer will have Jackson as the target to distribute with Nkuku making the overlaps. However, that would mean a change in the back line (a back three with Caicedo at the holding mid?). It would free up Palmer and Enzo to do their thing in the middle as well. Until we get a front line striker to rest Jackson (or supplant him), and improve keeper, we are going to have to rob Peter to pay Paul.
Or…
Park the bus.
I prefer the former.

You misspelled 3 years.

We are soft, and this dude has played zero meaningful minutes so why do we need to act like this matters?

Nah.
Between the long-lasting injuries, new arrivals, and new gaffer, this is 6 months old.
I mean, look at who has been brought in during the last three years.
I prefer to be patient, let them mature, learn their roles, and eventually gel.
Like I said, I’m bullish long term.

No FA Cup for the Blues this campaign
Oh well
Oh well

So we just get to start over every time we hire a new manager? The rot starts at the very top and permeates the entire club and has ever since Roman was illegally forced out. We can hire all the new managers we want, buy all the young mediocre wingers in the world, and it's not going to matter. We are irrelevant
