I'm torn on Mudryk. He shines against lesser competition but disappears in the EPL. And it isn't like he has been denied opportunities in the EPL. For all the criticism of Jackson, he scores goals in the Premier League.

He’s a poor man’s Pulisic. Fantastic dribbler but gets dispossessed easily. Can put serious pressure on opposing defenses but not on target with more than half of his shots. Good passer with great instincts but is sometimes too overzealous and ruins promising attack runs. He’s Pulisic before Pulisic matured.

Under Maresca?

I mean, he has only been in charge 8 matches.

As for Poch, he had him on a rail by the touchline. His job was basically to pull a defender out wide to create space in the middle. He was a veritable orange cone…by design.
Under Poch, we scored a lot of goals right up the middle.

I grant you that he needed to improve his scoring rate (on the few chances that they happened given the formation), but that can be said for others as well, regardless of attacking position.

He misses a lot of easy chances as well (still).

However, given how young that he is, I predict that he, like Mudryk, will continue to improve.
As noted previously, he didn’t own a pair of shoes until he was 16.

As you know, I was one of the few people to promote Jackson based on his potential. Most people wanted him to be benched.

I’m of a similar mindset with Mudryk, just in a backup role.

Jackson is maturing before our eyes. He’s becoming a problem for opposing defenders. Lavia is coming into his own. Maresca is about at his wit’s end with Sanchez and his shitty distribution. Oh well great to grab 3 important points today.

Good win today. Lavia and Ciacedo make the midfield run. CP is unreal. Sanchez can kick rocks, but he’d probably do it in the wrong direction.

Agreed

Over time, they will become more consistent.

This group is going to be impressive in the years to come.

Anthony Fooking Taylor will referee our match at ManU. Look for a record set for yellows in this one.

Ah that sucks. But it can't get much worse than VAR taking away CP's 1st goal while giving Newcastle the goal with no meaningful distinctions between the player positions and taking away the penalty on Nkunku.

Crappy start. Allowed one at 23 minutes then an own goal by Disasi at 26 minutes. Down 2-0. Looking flat.

I really DGAF about this one. The Carabao is pointless and should be abolished.

Our bloated squad needs as many games as possible and more opportunities to develop a winning culture. Disappointing result today

I doubt the “second team” gives a frick about it either. Those guys are looking to jump if they can’t play on the first team. And I can’t blame them.

Enzo Fernedez certainly doesn't care. He had some atrocious passes yesterday. Mudryk again vanished against top flight competition. Joao Felix thought he had to win the game all by himself.

I thought Mudryk did ok. Enzo is rattled by his divorce and demotion to the second team- he’s not into it right now. Felix tired to do too much because nobody else was doing anything. This team is discombobulated without Cole on the pitch.

Well they need opportunities in games to earn more time on the first team.

True but there are other top tier leagues in Europe where they can play first team ball. They have no loyalty to Chelsea, just as Chelsea has no loyalty to them (see Gallagher).

Mudryk sucks and we will never beat a big name team again
