Interesting article:

Chelsea fans show patience with Lampard may not be infinite

This particular sentence makes me want to jump in front of a double decker bus

quote:

"The Belgian has had 15 shots this season and scored with one of them, the distillation of a wider problem with finishing at Chelsea; in terms of goals scored, only Watford are underperforming their xG by a wider margin."

That’s the gamble. Yesterday was a tough day but I still think we qualify after all is said and done.

We need to be spending money. What’s the deal with Pulisic? They originally gave a date of mid February and updated it to say maybe sooner. He’s still not ready? CHO? RLC? Get Ethan back from loan.

The game was a sham, but we lost the points anyways. Willy was in a bad spot for that first goal and not quick enough to push that ball out. Not sure if kepa could have, but he’s a lot quicker.

We have a serious problem when the manager and keeper are at odds.

Kante out for three weeks, Tammy and RLC should be available this weekend versus Spurs according to Lampard today at his presser.

ETA: Pulisic is still out :(

Nothing is ever easy for the Blues. Finally got a W in league against depleted Spurs squad but that was a desperately needed win. I guess I shouldn’t complain.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence but damn we’ve been getting the short end of the VAR stick. I can’t see us getting away with that sort of behavior. The kick out today alone would have put us to 10 men

11 PL fixtures left. Can Blues hold onto 4th? Need RLC and Pulisic back to have any chance.

Bout time somebody started using giroud. I’ve always wanted him at Liverpool. If anybody could be a great backup to firmino it’s him.

Oli had 7 starts in 27 games played in the prem last year with 2 goals. not like he has been lighting it up for us (outside of the europa league, where he was fantastic).

We also know he has no future at the club past this year. It was past time that Michy got some chances, because now everyone has seen that he kinda sucks and its time to move on from both of them.

that said, since Michy fumbled his opportunity, we def need to see more Giroud down the stretch run.

Giroud brings a presence though. He’s easily marked but very strong. He’s one of the most fit players on the team aside from his age. The contrast between marking him and a fast player must be extremely daunting.

If Spurs had Giroud in the squad I think they may win the match today.
He may not be the most prolific goalscorer, but he can do a hell of a job up top. Always thought he was underrated by the general population.

im not saying hes doesnt bring something different to the table, but he was pretty washed up looking last year, unless he was playing eastern bloc teams.

with everyone looking at this season as a transitional year, it makes sense why hes been on the fringes until now.

hopefully a pissed off/something to prove Giroud hits some form and produces like he did today. he and Mount seemed to have good chemistry.

He won the WC starting every game for France without scoring a single goal. Didn’t even have one shot on target. I mean shite

He was an integral part of that team though. His strength is eating up space for other players to exploit, holding the ball in the final third, and if he’s going to score it’s usually with his head. Our problem is a lack of ruthless danger men to take advantage of what he provides. Ziyech will help, Sancho? helps even more. He was better with hazard around but he is in the twilight of his career.

How about Marcos Alonso today too.

Oli should start the remaining EPL matches as Michy isn’t performing. He, at the very least, gives CFC a veteran presence on a team with so much youth (not counting Willian who I hope isn’t on the squad next season).

The only player to have more spectacular misses than michy was nando. Hard to believe he once broke transfer records at 40M now.

Why? Willian’s time is over. He has trouble making crisp passes these days that aren’t intercepted, his corner kicks are flat and he is just taking minutes from younger guys that could use the time. He wants three years, you want two and I want him out.

This right here is why I wanted giroud out of all the names mentioned for Tottenham in the winter window. I didn’t think he’d come in and set the league on fire scoring goals, but he would’ve been a big presence in the middle of the field for our natural wingers to run off of and create. At the very least he would’ve been a target above 4’6” for our long ball club to aim at.

Fair play to Chelsea for not wanting to do it though.
