He’s just got to adapt and im sure he will. Leeds shot our whole transfer wad at Wolves for Costa and he hasn’t even started a game yet because he’s getting used to playing for Bielsa. Same with Nketiah though he is absolutely producing.

Always thought it was kind of a weird transfer/fit but he’s too talented not to succeed unless they just eventually push him out on loan or something. Give it some time.

And announce Costa in starting XI

Yeah, even if Chelsea do invest heavily when the ban is over, I'd imagine they have to do so at the back before anywhere else. We have one competent defender right now. Maybe Reece really shows what he can do when fully fit, but right now Rudiger is the only person who has proven he should be a regular starter.

Give the man some time to adapt to a new country, new league, new coach, new team, new scheme. Very few players come in and immediately blow away the league. Look at Pepe at Arsenal. The guy absolutely destroyed the French league but has looked pretty pedestrian so far for us, except for a few fancy moves here and there.

The player pulisic is today is the exact same player he was when he first started getting regular minutes at Dortmund. I’m not saying he can’t still grow as a player, but it’s not going to happen at a club like Chelsea.

better players than him have been loaned out by Chelsea, and I just feel like that’s what’s going to happen to him...and it will probably be for the best.

Aside from the fact we can't defend set pieces, we were by far the better team over 90 minutes today. We wasted a ton of chances. Alonso put in at least 5 crosses that could've (possibly should've) resulted in goals.

No doubt. Very frustrating that we couldn’t bang more in. We certainly proved we can play with the best but dammit, we have to play like that against every side and not just the top 6.

On another note, am I the only person who clinches his buttocks every time Zouma touches the ball?

story of the season. frustrating game, but this squad has more fight in them than what we've seen the past 2 seasons. Alonso has been playing well again.

I dont understand the appeal zonal marking. i really dont. AND we do it poorly. just man up, switch on picks, and see what happens.

I just don't get where it came from. Our squad isn't used to it. Also, Lampard's managers overwhelmingly used man marking. Like where did he pick up the idea to do zonal marking?

sarri had us in zonal marking last season too, with similar results. maybe they just felt Luiz was the weak link?

I mean, for the most part, teams arent even working hard to get free headers. they are just sitting there. its not like there are all these runners being missed.

dunno, just dont like it one bit.

I said in another thread after Christensen went out that it would be a success if zouma didn’t gift them any goals.

I didn’t watch Everton last year but everyone kept saying he played really well. Was this what they were talking about?

When he’s good, he’s good. Just doesn’t seem to be that over a full 90. There are moments your just kind of waiting for it.

Not sure what the deal with Pulisic is. He wasn’t terrible, he got 4 games 1 of which was taken out in the 60th, got an assist and close to a goal and another. Frank played a legitimate injured mount over him, while he maybe played his best game in the blue jersey against Liverpool.

As a fan of CP, I’m pretty worried about not getting anymore chances, but at the same time wondering just wtf everyone expected in 3.5 games? Willian has arguably one of the worst games I’ve seen a Chelsea player have a few games ago and was given more and more opportunities to make up for it.

Thoughts? Does Frankie just not like Pulisic?

he had a shot to make that spot his own, and just played ok. which is fine. Willian is gonna be first choice until it's taken from him. Mount being played out wide wasn't what I was expecting, and i wasn't expecting Mount to already be playing this well.

Pulisic will get chances, but he's gonna have to force Frank to leave Willi, Cho, or Mount out of the lineup. The key is for Pulisic to show well enough this year that club feels good about letting Pedro and or Willi leave without splashing more money on another winger.

also, the past couple games have featured alot of injury subs that very easily could have cost him some game time.

I don’t disagree that he played just okay. I do however think Willian played extremely poorly one game but never lost his spot.

True, but he was just coming off an injury. And hes played well lately.

Im no Willian fanboy, but i do think Frank kinda has to give willian some respect early on and see how it plays out.

I dont think anyone at the club expected pulisic to be an auto starter in year one.

Thankfully he loves Chelsea bc we are nowhere near ready to lose Willian. Or Pedro for that matter. Cho and Pulisic need to be as advertised and we need new transfers first. I hope we finally quit flirting with Leon bailey and pull the trigger. Any word yet on the appeal to end the ban with time already served?
