Right, he got there with the team Jose built.

Laughable you talk of Chelsea wages when Real has two players who cost almost as much as our entire XI.

Again, you can question Jose's summer moves all you want. Matic is his only signing so far that's been worth anything and I think we at least win the Prem if we keep Mata and Lukaku. It's hard to know what went on behind the scenes to know what was and wasn't his fault in regards to our strikeforce but the fact is with the roster as it was, what he did this season was still more than probably anyone else could have gotten out of that squad.

Like SCH now that he has had a season to evaluate and another summer to bring in players if he doesn't win anything next year then sure criticize him but it's hard to win anything with nothing even remotely resembling a #10 and Ba, Torres, and Eto'o as your striking options.

Nearly every major Real player joined the club prior to Jose, and a number of top ones joined after he left, but sure, it's the team he built.

This is what perturbs me. Why did he sell Mata? He was the number 10 you needed. There had to be something major going on. Doesn't make sense. He was probably the best no 10 in the PL for two seasons, and then he's shuttled out as though he was a problem. I think with Mata there they are able to break down some of the lower sides and improve their production from their strike force merely because of the quality of chances Mata would have created.

I've said the same man, I don't get it. He's exactly what we need in all those games we couldn't score or kill the game against Palace, West Ham, Villa, West Brom, Sunderland....

If he could have been the difference in even one of those games we are top right now.

Any other manager should have been fired for such poor judgment. Does Jose think that no.10's the caliber of Mata are plentiful? It beggars belief. It's obvious to me that Oscar doesn't work in Mourinho's system, as he's asked to do too much defensive work, while at the same time his skill set, which is running at speed from midfield to attack, is mitigated by the fact that Chelsea's game is as possession based as any of the other sides. If Oscar was in a purely counter-attack system, he would excel I think.

Modric, di Maria, Khedira, Lopez, and Coentrao. He promoted Morata if you want to hold that against him.

But, Ancelotti has made it his own, obviously, and he spent all of preseason/the start of the season laying the groundwork for the 442 he rolled out the last couple of weeks. Plus, he reinvented di Maria. Ancelotti has brought a level of variety to Real Madrid that wasn't necessarily there under Mourinho. Partially because Mourinho was too rigid and partially because Mourinho exhausted his supply of things that "go against the philosophy of Real Madrid" within about 30 minutes of taking charge.

Yet Jose's team scored many more goals. Without one of the top 5 attacking players in the world.

I don't have anything against Mourinho, but if you want to go down that path, they were both brought in to complete the same task. Who has gotten closer?

Carlo is top class no doubt. I'm also quite certain if Jose had the luxury of another 100 million dollar player at his disposal he would have broken through in once of those semis. But yes, ultimately he failed for whatever reason.

Jose has only won the CL twice (once with Porto, mind you) and been to the semis the last four years in a row (with two different teams). He's a clown*.

If everyone played big games like Jose does, soccer-haters would be right.

Nice. You'd think it was straightforward, but some people have a hard time detecting that sort of thing.

Soccer-haters won't like Barcelona any more than Chelsea.

yeah, there's a fair amount who he brought in, just saying the large chunk of their contributors this season have either pre or post dated Jose.

also, can we all just take a moment to remember Jose paid 30m+ for Willian, a fine wingback for chelsea.

I have to believe he massively overpaid just to troll Spurs.

To be fair to Willian, he played in Brazil, Ukraine, and Russia before joining Chelsea. There had to have been a huge adjustment for him and this season I think he has still been trying to adjust to the Premier League. You can see the skill that he has, he just needs to be more clinical in the box, but so does every other Chelsea player. I think he will be fine next season, especially with World Cup experience as well hopefully helping him out.

And about Oscar, I think fatigue may be starting to get to him. He hasn't had a proper break since before coming to Chelsea even. I think he could have been useful yesterday with his work rate both offensively and defensively, though.

I'm confused. Are there people on here who think Willian is trash or just that Chelsea paid too much for him?
