He had a poor match (he was overwhelmed and mentally really affected), but saw that late, and was looking to connect the golpe de gracia.

Howard was money, trolling the Ghanians after every errant shot.
He was a big time leader tonight, and only had one miscue (which wasn´t entirely on him).

Yeah, I usually tend to be a bit pessimistic so
1) I was really impressed that we responded so well -- not just the goal but getting Johnson involved going forward and counter punching them a bit.
2) thank goodness I really didn't know much about Atsu in worrying about this match beforehand.
K Asamoah etc was enough. . .

I may be alone in this but I was still thanking Klinnsman for not having Chandler out there. Even though he probably would have done a better job 1 on 1 defending I think it would have been one breakaway after another the way Ghana was able to win back possession and look for the long ball down the left flank. .
I wouldn't be shocked to see Ghana get points in either of their other matches though I would guess that Germany tears apart their back line a few times when they get through midfield.
I'm glad they didn't start Boateng. I'm not totally crazy about him as a player since he's often so wasteful but he really diversified their attack.

Yeah and Johnson's dynamic play in the warm-up games may have convinced their coach to play Asamoah at LB. I'm glad he wasn't further up the field.

That is one of the real reasons we need him. I love his first touch and his mind for playing two steps ahead.
Either way, i will take the 3 points.

I didn't mean that as a slight against Beasley. I think Beasley is very well equipped to deal against attacking players 1v1 physically. It was scarily explosive from Atsu

I actually stopped worrying about Atsu after awhile. He was extremely dangerous looking, but (to be super english) his end product was horrible.
Apare (the RB) put in some brilliant crosses in the first half. Every time he touched the ball I was like no no no, frick this I'm out.

No way does Bradley play this poorly again. We won his worst game of the tournament. We're in great shape.

Can we contribute Bradley's poor play to a lack of Jozy?
The play Jozy got hurt on was actually a pretty nice ball from Bradley that could have been something. Not having Jozy coming back for the ball certainly took away a solid passing option for Bradley.
