Bernardo Silva charged with misconduct by FA for ‘insensitive’ tweet to teammate

Honestly I’m surprised this hasn’t been a thread already, but I was hoping it would all blow over.

For those who don’t know, City’s team is very tight knit and a lot of the players are great friends on and off the pitch.

Bernardo, if anyone watches the club’s or other player’s Instagrams, is constantly made fun in good fun and pranked by other players with one of the main culprits always being Mendy.

I say that because it’s vital to know how close Bernardo and Mendy are. They both played at Monaco before moving to City in the same window and they are truly best friends.

Well Bernardo, being out of touch with reality like a lot of professional athletes tweeted this at Mendy a couple of weeks ago.



Clear blackface by American standards. The character is/was a mascot for a Spanish chocolate company I believe.

Mendy has said he took zero offense to the tweet and Raheem Sterling also has come out and defended Bernardo.

Doesn’t matter though. FA has charged him and he could possibly be suspended for six matches.
