Yeah, losing Totti for any extended period would be tough but fortunately the midfield is creating enough chances to get by with him rested for some matches. Pjanic stepping up in directing the attack is the key if Totti is out and he seems to have taken a huge step forward in confidence this year.
De Rossi was absolutely superb today. The midfield may not be deep but De Rossi, Pjanic and Strootman could well be as good as any starting three anywhere.
Really a great result today. Even though it wasn't always the beautiful football we've been playing recently, Napoli are a very good side and we dealt with both Totti and Gervinho going down with injuries.
That our midfield picked up the slack from Totti and we defended well when Napoli threw everyone forward trying to equalize and still seemed the more likely score on a counter is another sign of this team excelling in the exact situations where we crumbled the past couple of years.

Roma stay perfect after going down to 10 men in what is arguably one of the toughest away fixtures in Serie A. Bradley with the winning goal was a great combination between the midfield and I think it was Marquinho's run that took every defender with him opening up the space for a shot.
With the schedule getting a little easier, this run could continue.

What an amazing comeback for Micheal! Roma had gone down to 10 men after a Maicon second yellow. Udinese hadn't lost a home match in over a year so there was little hope for extending the record winning streak to nine matches before this!

Well, the winning streak ended at 10 games with a 1-1 draw away at Torino ironically done in by a stellar performance from our own former youth player Alessio Cerci.
Bradley started but didn't really have that great of a game. However, it was a tough match for him since Pjanic was moved forward and Bradley slotted in with Strootman and De Rossi in an "emergency formation" since we're missing all three of our first choice front line of Totti, Destro and Gervinho.
It's been the first Garcia move of the season that didn't turn to gold but Garcia probably did even did more to enhance his growing cult-ish status with Roma fans by brashly going Zeman-esque balls out and playing the last the 20 minutes with 1 defender on the pitch to desperately avoid an away draw to a solid mid-table side.
November's going to be a tough month since Roma's not the deepest club to begin with and we'll at very least be without Totti and Destro until December and likely Gervinho until after the International break.

AS Roma intermezzo thoughts:
Il Brutto:
The loss at Juve was disappointing but any Roma fan should be pleased sitting 2nd in the table at this juncture of the season.
Such a complete meltdown including the obligatory rash De Rossi tackle for a red card, a comically intentional handball, an offsides goal to one of the Big Three and a Pjanic nagging injury probably should also do much toward helping longtime Roma fans realize a more comfortable emotional bond with this year's squad. It happily dissuades any concern that our favorite players have been clandestinely replaced by rational, clear headed professionals or something so un-Roma-like as that.
Il Cattivo: The steep decline in form following Totti's injury and his slow return to form throws into stark relief what most already realize: he's the creative impetus that makes players like Gervinho, Florenzi (or Borini or Lamela etc etc etc) so effective. There's still no one that can take up that slack.
Il Buono: Benatia, who some already thought was one of the few best CBs in Europe while somewhat hidden at Udinese, has been even better than expected. He may well be the most indispensable player on the squad. The defense isn't quite as great as the numbers from the record setting start suggested but it's still very good and easily the best Roma has had in a decade.
Seconda Parte: Roma looks to be following the excellent summer market with a strong statement this winter: Radja Naingollan was signed today from Cagliari. Not only is this a good sign that money is committed to address some weak areas but also that Roma was able to get Naingollan over Juve, Milan, Inter and Napoli who were all in hot pursuit of his ball winning expertise.
That we're doing this while also continuing to add highly rated younger players like Abner and Leandro Parades this winter is even better.
If death is the mother of beauty, Roma's ritual suicide at Juventus Stadium may well see La Lupa Capitolina happily nursing a CL return.

Noticing the uneasiness of the board becoming palpable over the fate of the AS Roma thread: bump.
Off the Pitch Good News:
1. President Pallotta plans to infuse €100m into the club's capital. This along with the Nike money should mean, as most predicted, that any transfer moves this summer would be due to extreme offers and the club would have no need to sell before buying.
2. Chinese business magnate Chen Feng is close to reaching an agreement with Pallotta and Unicredit bank to buy the 3rd of the club still owned by Unicredit. Pallotta has been trying to bring in a party with an interest in investing to buy these shares.
3. The new stadium is to be announced at the end of March with Pallotta and architect Dan Mies claiming it will "be something European soccer has never seen."
(Since the site currently has a horse racing track my guess is that this may mean that the track is left and the starting 11 arrive to the pitch in chariot while the Ben Hur theme blares out across Roman ruins.)
4. Pallotta announced this in Rome metaphorically saying that we've only seen the "First Inning" of his plans for AS Roma which immediately caused google.it to be inundated by 1 million "whata does it meana the firsta inning"
The so so news on the pitch: lots of minor injuries/flu (Gervinho, Maicon, Dodo, Totti, Balzaretti, Torosidis) and so another makeshift lineup against Inter tomorrow with 18 year old CBs playing fullback.
