Conor Henderson was given a surprising turn at LB. He looked awful, then he tore his ACL (my layman's opinion). Looked very awkward defending the whole time, but his boot got stuck in the turf on one particular occasion and yeah...pretty ugly looking.

I hope for his sake it isn't a torn ACL, but the way it turned, that has to be the most likely injury. It was only his second game at LB, but LB was the only position he was going to make it here for us. He'll recover, and make a nice left-sided player for some Championship team.

Gervinho looks like a good player. We should have a really deep squad in terms of the front six. LB is still a concern.

Apparently he has a history of long-term knee injuries (from Young Guns). That's no good.

It would be nice to see him go to Burnley if that's where he would fit best. Glad there are so many interested parties

I'll be disappointed if we sell him, but he won't get the games he needs here to develop.

Yeah sucks cuz he has such great technique and size. I've also read that Wenger wanted him to play CB when he didn't have a set position, but he refused. That might have been a better place for him in the end. I hope he does well at Ipswich.

I have a couple of classmates who are going to the Emirates Cup this weekend just for the hell of it because they're in London. They are both attractive females so I've instructed them to attempt a shirt swap after the game with an Arsenal player so I can have an authentic kit.

First thing that went through my mind was that this must be some sort of English wet t-shirt thing.

I hope to he does. He's a winger like we haven't had in years. His pace would destroy most PL teams.

I also hope the rumors of Lansbury leaving are not true. I would be pissed. He can play wide or centrally, and has good technique. What's the point in the youth policy if you don't give your academy players a chance? I fear if we lose him he will come back to bite us. That might be me being irrational though.

I hadn't seen those rumors. That would be disappointing.

This was is no shock, but Henderson will be out 6 months.

Also, I agree with your post on the Audi Cup thread. Hope Thiago showing out makes them not want Cesc. (Or at least we should get him to offset their cost)

It's safe to say he won't make it here. Hell of a left foot, but lacks confidence in pretty much anything other than set pieces.

I think the Lansbury issue is the same as Nasri. He won't sign a new contract, in Henri's case, because he wants assurances of first-team football. I just don't understand how Denilson gets 150 first team games, and Lansbury gets none. Denilson probably has better technique than Lansbury, but Henri is the better athlete and has much better workrate. And Henry has great technique, the difference between he and Denilson is marginal. It might be that Wilshere and Ramsey are blocking his progress to the first team, which is true, but there are plenty of games where he could have the opportunity.

There are rumors the same issue is going on with Bartley. That might be twitter talking nonsense, but we'll know more after the Emirates Cup. Bartley looks to me to be a real CB the likes we haven't had in years. Big, tall, strong in the air, with more than enough ball-playing ability.

I'll be extremely frustrated if these two leave.

I wish Arsenal could have a B-Squad playing in the Championship the way Barca does. I would watch every game online.

Wenger has no clue when it comes to CBs. I have to believe that based on recent years. If we don't sign a CB AND let Bartley go I'm going to be beyond pissed. And if I here the excuse "Well we Vermaelen was out all last year so that'd like a new signing!" I'll be even more pissed. Tommy V's a fine defender, but he has his limitations and doesn't do anything to correct the defensive trouble we've had the past few years. Djourou isn't even really anything special, but it was incredible what a tall, decently athletic CB did for our backline. Then, of course, his form plummeted at the end of the year and our D went back to sucking.

As for Lansbury, I agree with your points. I don't understand Wenger and his depth chart sometimes. Merida would be another example of that. Not that he's setting the world afire at Atletico, but it seems like some of these guys should get more opportunities than they have/did.
