The ref was handing them out really early that match. Kept the game restrained.

Too bad you didn't tweet it. I was planning on stealing it, whatever it was.

You can have one of my abandoned projects: a biopic adaptation of Los del Río, the singers who wrote and performed "Macarena" and later retired on a Peruvian farm to shear llama and alpaca fur. And things take a twist when Rob Schneider shows up!

Just re-watched my last happy Arsenal moment. Arshavin's goal versus Barcelona. Brings a tear to my eye.

Also, Tyler's call on that goal is fantastic.

Link me. I could watch Martin Tyler commentate anything. My favorite Tyler commentary is this game. LINK

Especially the last goal, which gives me chills.

In other news, Afobe, Henderson, Miyachi and Frimpong make the trip to Cologne. Lansbury didn't pass a fitness test. I'm not sure how I feel about Henderson. Great left foot, but doesn't have a set position. Getting a look at Afobe will be important. I hope Miyachi can get a work permit. A traditional winger the likes we haven't had in a while. Frimpong looks like a bulldog, but I'm not sure he's quite there as a passer. I guess he's ahead in the Frimpong/Coquelin/Eastmond( ) race.

I guess so. Is Coquelin with the French U20 team or something? I don't think he's in camp. I'm sad that Japan didn't field a young squad in the Copa America. Really could have aided us in getting Miyachi a work permit.

Ah, good call. He is with them. I guess Afobe didn't make the u-20 roster for England.

My guess is one of Coquelin/Frimpong is loaned out while the other stays for cover.

We asked for him to be withdrawn from the squad so he could participate in our preseason camp. The FA granted our request. First Wilshere, now Afobe. I'm afraid of what they are saving up favors for.

Agreed. At this point, I'd be more comfortable with Coquelin as cover due to his experience in Ligue 1, but I also wouldn't mind him going back over there for another year.

I remember us asking, but I didn't realize they granted it.

Convincing Aneke to choose England.

Between the two, Frimpong looks the most physically developed. Coquelin is a bit wiry, which may explain Wenger's hesitation to play him.

I'm hoping Bartley beats out Squillaci, as I really like the way he plays. It doesn't look like we are going to buy anyone else, so might as well give Bartley a chance over Squillaci, who at this point in his career should be happy at being cover for a team like Arsenal. What is it with the number 18, it seems reserved for shite French defenders. (Grimandi, Cygan, Sylvestre, Squillaci.)

Wenger has played Eastmond at DM multiple times. Coquelin's practically Arnold compared to Craig.

True. No clue what Eastmond brings to the table other than a decent ability to read the game.

Mertesacker + Marin for Eboue + 2012 Second Round Draft Pick and Squillaci's expiring contract

If only it worked like the NBA's awful trading scheme.

Been watching the last 30 mins of the Cologne friendly. We won 2-1 on dos goals by Gervinho early. Conor Henderson was given a surprising turn at LB. He looked awful, then he tore his ACL (my layman's opinion). Looked very awkward defending the whole time, but his boot got stuck in the turf on one particular occasion and yeah...pretty ugly looking.

Afobe got exactly one minute of PT. I don't see the point of that.
