Whatever. If in terms of revenue, we're fifth. LINK

Still much larger than Athletico.

Do you have a better source? That doesn't even take into consideration the Kroenke takeover that was 100% debt free.

I don't give a shite about Atlético, I was just pointing out that both are similar in many areas.

Like? You didn't point out anything in your original post.

For the love of God, they both start the season with high hopes, show flashes of brilliance, lose the unthinkable, run out of gas in the final third of the season, have amazing defensive mistakes, beat the eventual winner in a season match, etc.

Don't act incredulous. You didn't point any of that in the original post. If anything, this has been a recent modus operandi for Arsenal, specifically the last two seasons. The season before (2008) we were terrible. The previous season we only had three losses.

There was no need to, if you know football.

I don't follow La Liga at all. I don't care about their exploits.

So, you don't know football. You know punt and run, and Barça wannabes.

I think Eric Clapton must be an Arsenal fan.

Whatever you say. I like La Liga, I just don't have a team, nor do I care about the narrative of the season.

Because Arsenal does it so often, right.

Can't dispute this one. Barca play possession football far better than we do; our failing is not emulating them enough.

No Theo in the second leg doomed us. He is the one player Barca feared.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Denilson.

There's one guy that is definitely gone.

Now begins the guessing game of who we will sign this summer. Arsenal probably face the biggest summer of all the top 4. Need to add talent while holding on to Nasri and Fabregas.

Could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Arsenal were playing the beautiful passing game way before Barca was. Or at least they were known for it was before Barca was. Arsenal have been known for beautiful football since their inception (save the era immediately preceding Wenger).

Barça started in the late eighties with the complete system type deal (to bear fruit in the 90's). John Cruyff was instrumental in this.

Yeah Barca started before us. There are some great vids of Guardiola splaying the ball around. People forget that when Wenger entered the league, we played a high-tempo, counter attacking style that was based around mostly five players attacking the defense with speed and power. It was after most of The Invincibles left that we changed our style to a slower-tempo, more possession based game.

We might precede them if you start with the Liam Brady era, but Barca have been doing what they do for a while.

I read the whole interview in The Sun, and I felt quite sorry for Denilson. Not what we needed at his position, but I think he will be a good player in Spain or Italy. I don't think he'll ever make a Brazil squad though.

Hopefully we get a true DM. I know Wenger wants technical proficiency, but I'd rather a player who can break up play, and move the ball side to side simply.

Mayhaps we'll give Kyle Bartley or France Coquelin a shot to fill in the gap?

Ryo's getting a shot apparently. Please please use "Rio" by Duran Duran as a fan song for him.

here's some blogger's list of names we potentially will go after.
