It is all the pitch's fault.

everyone is giving him hell for this typical bout of victimization, but when you look at the passing stats, Man U had a season low passing accuracy, and Sagna and Clichy had career low passing rates, not to mention the rest of our team doing poorly. Was it a gamebreaker? Probably not, but evidence does suggest it played some detrimental part in the flow of the game.

I thought the game was being played at Wembley the way people were falling around. The pitch may have influenced Szcenzy's distribution as well because I don't remember it being that bad in his previous 3 starts.

While I did notice some falling down, it was not anything that really changed the game. The crux of the game was arsenal not being able to build possession like they usually do. I felt that it was more from tactics and personnel than the pitch. Wilshere had 3 or 4 bad giveaways in arsenal's half. The CBs also couldn't advance it to the middle third with long passes because of park and nani being pushed up so high. United did a great job of clogging and taking away the midfield. Schezny(sp?) had a clear lack of targets, potentially because of the aforementioned united pressure. You could see that he wanted to throw the ball to his defenders, but there were instances where the united pressure forced a mistake in his throw distribution. He looked uncomfortable whenever he had to distribute. Otherwise, he played a very good game.

I agree. United's pressure on the ball and discipline were the keys to effectively shutting down Arsenal's attack. My hat is off to them.

Arsenal's FA Youth Cup squad crushed yesterday. Aneke had three goals and Afobe two. Afobe is still on loan at Huddersfield (where he is dominating) but was allowed to come back for this match.

Also I saw a rumor that Arsenal are opening a large training center in the US to tap into the untapped talent in our large nation...Apparently Kroenke is pushing it. That would be awesome.

Another rumor I saw was a swap with Real Madrid involving Clichy and Benzema. Not sure what I think of that one...

Until Gibbs can stay healthy I can't see Clichy going anywhere.

Yeah, here is the article I was just reading

Also, it'd be interesting to find an English translation of his book Shosha No Esprit - mentioned in this article - about his style of management.

God, I'd take Hazard in a second. A true winger who can combine inside or get to the touchline.

Arsenal-Stoke preview

some tidbits:
despite returning to full training, Abou Diaby, has only a minimal chance of making the bench. [didn't know he was even close to fitness, good news]
Nicklas Bendtner is about to become a father so he may not be involved. Manuel Almunia is out with a new ankle problem. [ and ]

I'd place a fat wager on Arshavin being on the bench tomorrow.

I'd also love to have Hazard.

The thought of Beowulf continuing his genetic lineage gets me all bothered.

Haha - Maybe the athletic genes will come from the dad and the work ethic genes will come from the mom. I know you have to question any woman who is in a relationship with him, but she can't be much worse.

He has progressed though; his attitude and lack of focus two years ago was terrible.

This could be a major moment in Arsenal history if you think about it. Szcezny probably would have gotten the nod today and with an impressive performance, might have kept playing with the No. 1 spot his for the next 15 years. Alas, Fabianski will recover before the next game I'm sure and destroy any dream of that.

How much do tickets at the Emirates run for? I'm going to be in London for the match against Chelsea on the 27th.
