we might run more of a 4-2-3-1 esque formation with Van Persie starting for Rosicky and playing behind Chamakh, in that role Fabregas and Rosicky have played this year. That's pretty much what he did today

I was confused about that because I flipped the game on in the 75th and saw Van Persie, Walcott, Arshavin, and Chamakh all on the field at the same time. I didn't see enough of the game to get a feel for how well it worked.

Since now we are playing the 4-2-3-1, Van Persie can play in the hole like he did in the 2008/09 season when he had 20 goals and 13 assists. The only impetus on him defensively is to track back to the deepest midfielder, otherwise its a position he's quite familiar with.

Exactly. And I'm not too worried defensively considering Rosicky and Fab don't contribute much there either. Song just needs to not get out of position as much.

i totally agree with RVP in the hole, chamakh up top, nasri and arshavin in the wings. its wilsheres position thats causing some trouble. its not his mistake but its when song thinks he is dinho and bursts forward while exposing the backline and short wilshere to long balls and knockdowns. against united, wilshere should play in a little more advanced role with song wearing a collar to zap him if he crosses the halfline.

i have been waiting four months for an arsenal-utd game and just learnt that i will be on a flight during the game. aaaaargh!!!

you could clearly hear (Wilshere I think) yell "Alex! Alex!"

my favorite audible moment from the field was mark hughes yelling ~30 minute mark "yew've got tew tawlk to each otha!!" sounding like he was a marriage councilor or something.

aside from Nasri's tear inducing display, how good was our wide play? Sagna and Clichy both played with intensity that I haven't seen in a while. Superb crosses and tidy defense.

hope this guy is right about transfers

Fabregas Targets United Return

Arshavin, RvP, Nasri, Chamakh, and Fab all on the pitch at the same time would be beautiful.

I just hope that when he does return he is concentrated enough to compete at the level we love to see him reach. Even when he was healthy leading up to the injury, he wasn't as lethal or accurate as he can be. Or was he slightly knocked and we didn't know about it? Either way, I'd rather him rest instead of rushing him back. I trust the physios have the utmost discretion so hopefully there's nothing to worry about.

Agreed. I too hope they don't rush him back.

Arsene says he wants to loan JET out to a Premier League squad in January, like he did Wilshere last year. He's already been on loan to Blackpool. Think they'd want him back? Other teams who could probably use a striker are West Ham (they could use anybody right now), Fulham, Villa if they sell Carew, and maybe Wolves. Any other possibilities?

Blackpool, Bolton and Wigan all fit our style better. It's hard to believe the transformation that has gone on at Bolton. Fulham would be a good option. West Ham wouldn't because Grant relies too much on the long ball.

FIFY

Another reason we're the most American-friendly team out there.

Good point. I never thought about that. A vast majority of our matches really do end with three points to one side or the other.
