I have always viewed having Vela on the bench as a waste of his talent. The problem is that he's more of a traditional 4-4-2 striker instead of a target or wing.

Agree 100%. Guys like Marin and Affelay who we've been linked to are much more suited to play out wide in the 4-3-3 than Vela. We've got striker pretty much set with RvP, Chamakh, Bendtner, JET, Afobe is just a year or two off...

Glad Gibbs is back. When he returns to full fitness I'd like to see him get rotated in League matches.

I can't wait until Tom Cruise is our LB. Way more opportunities for jokes.

What kind of rotation do you think there will be considering this is our 3rd match in a week? RvP looked rusty as hell against Newcastle. I doubt he gets a start yet.

same backline
rosicky-denilson-cesc
theo-bendtner-nasri

think I'm crazy with the forward selection?? I dunno, it's hard to predict, but since it's such a quick slate of games, I have to think that chamakh and song are gassed at this point.

I picked rosicky for how well he played at wolves, and nasri because his form has been much better than arshavin's. theo and bendtner are fresh legged and must be hungry to make an impression.

what is your lineup prediction?

eta: forgot about wilshere ... aahhh this rotation prediction game is tricky

It's nice that we can actually use a rotation for the first time in what seems like forever.

aint dat da troof.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that, 2-3 years ago the guys we are depending on now were young(er) and inconsistent. now we're eager for them to take the field. having said that, they may not pay off in silverware again this season, but it's refreshing to stand a better chance in all competitions.

Same backline
Wilshere Song Cesc
Nasri Bendtner Rosicky

It is tough to decide. Since we're away I think we'll pick 5 MFs to possess the ball better.

Wilshere might get his first ENG start against France.

16 Gunners called up for international duty

16?? incredible number. well done guys
Vela and Song would make it 18, but Mexico and Cameroon are not scheduled to play.

Spurs have gone 68 Premier League games away from home without a victory over Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea or Man Utd.

Well Vela is still suspended, so even if MEX was playing he wouldn't have been called up.

Big match v Spurs this weekend. I'm guessing Nasri will playing on the right since he tracks back better than Theo. Or maybe Theo will play there so we can release him when BAE and Bale are too far advanced. Think RvP starts?

Nasri has been dynamic in the right wing while theo is still not completely fit. Starting with the same team we played with against everton and then subbing in theo and rosicky for arshavin and wilshere(they seem too tired at around 60 mins) is a better choice. nasri can then move to a central midfield role that he has always wanted.

I hesitate to say play the same lineup because we've had 3 poor (by Arsenal standards) matches in a row. Not that I'm complaining about the 6 pts we've gotten the past two games, but something is a bit off with what we're doing and I think it'd be naïve of Wenger to just keep at it. And moving your AA23 comment from the other thread over here, he wasn't our best player against Chelsea or Man City, our two biggest games thus far this year. He's had a poor season and a particularly poor run recently. Bringing him off the bench makes sense. As you noted, he tires easily. It'd be better to bring him on with fresh legs and reek havoc the last 25-30 if we need him to.

Reading up on Arsenal.com and Young Guns, and it sounds like our loanees are getting some good experience. Afobe has played well for Huddersfield Town. Coquelin has done extremely well in the holding midfield role for Lorient. Pedro Botelho has been playing well at left back for FC Cartagena, a Segunda Division outfit. Mannone played well in his first start for Hull. Bartley, Hoyte, Cruise, and Evina are all getting quite a bit of PT.

I would think that Chuks Aneke might get loaned out soon considering he likely won't feature in the Carling Cup this season. Wellington Silva is also in North London for good ahead of schedule thanks to a fallout with his previous club. His transfer doesn't become official until January though. Kid is going to be a star.

Another potential star is our Summer-of-2011-new-signee Serge Gnabry. Kid looks like he can play.

The future is bright at Arsenal.

Yes indeed, there's good reason to sit comfortably with our academy churning out quality products. But we still have a little work to do in order to shake off the "selling club" title.

Did anyone read about this? Ramsey and his friend attacked in a bar. Ramsey's friend dives in front of a lunging knife directed at the Arsenal player, gets stabbed in the face, after an unprovoked argument about Ramsey quitting Cardiff City in 2008. Really fricked up story. I hope they have CCTV in Cardiff.

great save from David Seaman. Don't recall that footage, but I came across it on one of my many blog surfing escapades.

I don't know how to predict our rotation for Spurs. I was sure there would be a few changes in the squad vs. Everton, but I was wrong. So it wouldn't surprise me to see nearly the same lineup vs. Spurs, with Koscielny swapping with Jo-Djou, although Kos really needs to work on his positioning.

also, those Barca som'bitches jumped us on Ibrahim Afellay

We definitely don't need Afellay. Sad to see Cardiff City fans treating Aaron and his friend like that.

Interesting...first Hleb, now Pires. What other former Arsenal wing is going to make a return to the EPL, Ljungberg?

Luckily I don't think he'll trouble us too much. Apparently Villareal have been using him as a DM lately. Though Petrov is a long term injury (I think), so he will likely play right wing for AV.

Also, reserve striker Henri Lansbury plays 30 minutes in goal during a U21 Eng-Germany match: LINK

Maybe if Agudelo continues his progression well Henry can send him Arsenal's way.

After reading that ESPN article about Gale Agbossoumonde, I was thinking maybe Gazidis should do his home country a favor and kick Traffic out of the picture. Sounds like the kind of young CB we need.

And yes, I am throwing out crazy ideas to get an American on the Arsenal squad.

What a terrible first touch from the keeper. Chamakh is always pestering keepers, but what a blunder.
