Also, love that Arshavin was playing centrally. Crazy that this was his first opportunity there this season considering the absence of Cesc and Nasri. Wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

Yep, and he gets a goal and an assist. Not sure why it is Wenger doesn't utilize him there more. Seems like it suits Arshavin more at his current age/form.

Yeah Park is a really intelligent player. I'm watching the replay right now, and I'm impressed by Park's movement. Also, Arshavin is the most natural number 10 we have on this team, even when Fabregas was here. His passes are always perfectly weighted. That role also frees him from defense, which is the area he struggled in most.

Coquelin and Frimpong both need more seasoning. They don't understand positioning yet, nor do they understand how to work as a midfield unit. AOC also needs some work, as he lacks that last bit of polish. He takes too long to figure out what to do next, especially if he drifts anywhere other than the wing. Yennaris might be an option at RB if he can develop an attacking game. Reminds me of a young Clichy in his reading of the game. Miquel is playing left back, and he really does have great technique. At his size, he could be an amazing CB, as he can bring the ball out of D and support the attack when needed.

The Bolton goal was equally Coquelin and Frimpong's fault. Coquelin played a bad pass to Frimpong, who was almost immediately dispossessed by Muamba, who created the chance.

Agreed. Hope he gets more PT out there in that role. Our midfield to attack link has been pretty weak this year. He would go a long way toward helping that.

The second goal actually showed good teamwork from Coquelin and Frimpong. Frimpong closes down the man, wins the ball, Coquelin collects and plays a forward pass with his first touch which finds Arshavin in Space, who plays a brilliant ball into Park who finished brilliantly.

I'm really on the fence on both of these players. Both have serious potential, but I could see another loan helping both.

Isn't that the role he played in his fantastic showing at Euro 2008?

Yep. I think Wenger's idea was to play him as an inverted winger who would come inside and become a auxiliary no 10. It worked for a while, but it put way too much defensive pressure on Arshavin. When he plays in the hole, it allows him to display his amazing technique, which helps him create space, rather than creating space with the burst of speed like he once did. He's a natural link player, and he's still intelligent, even though he doesn't have the ability to play wide. He needs to play there, especially if we play against 4-4-2 teams. Even when teams deploy 5 midfielders, he should play in the hole, as a battle between he and a DM should result in him winning that battle more often than not. Hell, Arhsavin was really effective in 2009 when he played as a striker, or a false 9, when every striker we had available sucked or was injured.

I really want to see him play more inside. It suits his whole style much better.

Awwww FFS. Wenger saying "I hope it's not too bad" probably means we won't see him again this season. What in the hell is with our guys getting reinjured after coming back.

He wasn't going to play at Chelsea this weekend anyways according to Wenger. This was pretty much just a warm-up match for him. I'm not concerned.

Who else is terrified that Djourou will be the primary defender against Mata this weekend?

It will have to do. It actually works out in a way, as Mata rarely ever stays on the wing. We could have a numerical advantage if Theo follows Cole the whole match.

Halloween party Friday night. Working OSU-Baylor Saturday at 2:30. Waking up at 6:45 for the match Saturday is looking unlikely.

Well Glasser, hopefully I'll have a night like yours a couple months back which caused you to miss a match.

Finally watched some more extensive highlights, and damn, Park looks a million times more threatening than Chamakh. Had at least 3 shots from outside the box that were all dangerous. Not to mention his goal was phenomenal. Hope to see more of him backing up RVP.

Also, excited to think we are going to have Vermaelan, Koscielny, and Mertesacker fully healthy very soon. Finally a bit of legit depth at CB.
