I couldn't agree more. He WILL end up getting injured, since he has to be overplayed in order for us to score. Hopefully we can get him a somewhat solid/consistent backup so we can keep from overplaying him.

Did anybody catch the match today?
Getting ready for saturday

According to Mr. Young Guns, Yennaris will get the start tomorrow at RB. Sounds like it'll be:

Fabianski
Yennaris-Squillaci-Vermaelen-Miquel
Coquelin-Frimpong
Benayoun
AOC-Chamakh(?)-Park

Mannone, Boateng, Meade, Ozyakup, Aneke, Miyachi, Watt as subs.

I'm actually starting to regain hope of finishing in the top 4 (read: 4th). Liverpool isn't title contender quality, Tottenham might be better but are still Tottenham, and I can't see Newcastle keeping this up. With a little extra help in January this is doable.

Newcastle's pretty good, but I agree, we have a shot. Just need to stay in range until January.

TV5 and Jackie Boy give us real shot.

I'm still unconvinced Jackie Boy will play this season. Even if he does, he won't contribute much due to the long lay-off.

Actually, Arshavin starts, not Chamakh. I would guess Park will play centrally up top. That'll be interesting to see.

boner worthy lineup, imo. eager to get a look at Park and glad to see AOC will be unleashed.

You know, I honestly forgot he was an Arsenal player and began taking him under consideration as one of my least interesting twitter friends

What's Chamakh's deal? He was awesome for the 1st half of last year. He looks like a shell of his former self.

I'm guessing there is no TV for this game?

He might be on the bench.

Haha, excuse my unintentional double entendre, but I meant this game isn't televised is it?

TV5 coming back is better news.

I think he meant television :X

Just seems like he's lost confidence, which is very unfortunate, as he could offer us some dynamicism with his style/function of play.

who knows, maybe when Bendtner returns he will actually stay put and Chamakh will exit? he's bagging goals here and there for Sunderland. edit: or probably not, since Wenger doesn't use Beowulf in the same way, although I believe he has good technique to hold the ball up as well as having an nose for goal

Two things that bring Bendnter down. Slower than Van Persie. Drops way too deep to receive the ball. He'd be much better if he desired to be on the end of moves rather than at the beginning of them.

I don't think it's down to desire as much as it is a matter of positioning and tactical instruction. Just look at his record with the Danish NT. They're almost as reliant on him for goals as we are with RvP. Their coach plays him as a CF and often it pays off.

While fair, the system we play currently requires the CF to be both a support striker and a traditional number 9. There are only a handful of players who can do that, Tevez, Van Persie, Forlan, etc. If he just played as a traditional number 9, he'd be much more successful. But he wants to play both ways, and he doesn't have the necessary vision and technique to play the role the same way VP plays it. When Chamakh played it last year, he played it as a true no. 9, and was really successful at it.

I don't expect Bendnter to ever come back. His ego was hurt in a big way. Hopefully he does well this season and we can sell him to a club for 10 or so million.

yeah, you're probably right. I really wish he could have matched his skill with his own self-assessment. Instead it looks like Balotelli will reach that potential. Not only are MCFC doing really well, but they have an Eboue x 3 in the squad. Life is so unfair.

If Balotelli was on Arsenal, Wenger would already have reenacted that scene from Good Will Hunting, "it's not your fault, it's not your fault" etc.

Yeah, I also can't see Beowulf returning. Too much pride there. I'm kinda disappoint Chamakh isn't playing today because this is a match he might actually be able to gain some confidence in. He's in a funk and it seems rather unlikely that he'll come out of it anytime soon.

Wenger has been talking up Park lately. Hopefully he can help us out. Wenger also compared Chuks Aneke to a young Yaya Toure. Wouldn't mind having a Yaya Toure on our team.

What's the deal with the pages being cut off on the Soccer Board? I thought there was a whole new Arsenal thread when I first saw it.
