most likely wenger puts him in to get some PT against a lower team.

That was obviously sarcasm. But he really is nowhere near Gervinho or OX's level

He shouldn't be deployed on the left, I agree, but him coming in from the left and interchanging with Rosicky helps our combo play. I'd rather an actual winger, but the side has an odd balance to it.

We were bound to fall back to some sort of mean after our good fortune of recent weeks. I've enjoyed watching the heart of this squad, but let's not act like we've played perfectly over this stretch. They've performed admirably, but are far from perfect.

My only problem with today's game is the fact that Ramsey started.

Yeah that was puzzling, especially since Gervinho played well against Villa and Onuoha is someone you can run at with success.
More baffling is why it took so long for Wenger to make a change.

Same as earlier in the season.. remember how resistant to any change in the lineup he seemed?

Podolski has signed (for what, the 12th time now?)
But since the Mirror is reporting it, it must be legit:

Arsenal credited with conceding 11 goals from errors, most in the EPL

The Vermaelen Problem
Simplistic analysis. There is no problem with TV5 going forward as long as there is sufficient cover. He did get worked in the QPR game, but we needed that wake up call to realize we aren't very good defensively.
The issue has become this. We are playing a midfielder wide on the left as an auxiliary no. 10. We do this to try to dominate possession, as we aren't doing a very good job of holding onto the ball with 3 midfielders. By dominating possession we can do two things. We can push our CB's very high up the field, and we can determine the flow of the game. The problem with this is also twofold. The opposing striker can now drop back to pick up the deepest midfielder, and teams set up to hit us on the break. This is pretty much what we saw in the QPR game, when TV kept going forward to try to give us a man advantage again in midfield, which didn't work. It also puts pressure on the place where we have a small advantage, the triangle between the CAM, LW, and the ST, to create chances. Most of our chances have come when we go down the 18 toward the touchline, not toward the goal mouth. Indeed, we run into lots of opposition midfielders closing down, and we don't have a Nasri or an Arshavin in this team who were excellent close quarters dribblers who could navigate that small area and either create chances or keep the ball. Gervinho isn't there yet with his dribbling, and Ox isn't either. Wenger realizes the problems with this side, and he tries to compensate when he can, but the return of a true wide player like Miyachi will be extremely important to the future of our 4-3-3. At this point, during the QPR game, we were playing a very lopsided 4-4-2, which we didn't take advantage of in a way we should have.
