Yep. Think this will be the last season we can do that. I feel like Merino or Zubimendi will be gone next summer. That said, all hands on deck for the Champions League.

Also I'm okay with Dowman and Nwaneri and Martinelli even Noni starting at RW til Saka is fit

I actually think Nwaneri could be a casualty. Sell him with buy back clause or something.

Still need to offload Jesus and Vieira. Those three can probably generate close to the Bruno fee.

I think I'd take a big offer for Nwaneri. Would likely break our record sale.

Rumors that Vieira is going to Hamburger SV on a permanent. Will probably be just under 15M pounds

I still hate the idea of giving up on Nwaneri

I'm not a fan unless we have a buy back clause.

Would prefer a loan to a PL club (or top 5 league in general)

A successful loan is the best option but he’s 3rd choice in the right 8 and 4th choice on the right wing.
I could see them cashing in this summer if the right offer comes and we would have buy back option or a sell on fee.
Max Dowman is a better player right now. He looked fantastic today

Man, I thought Nwaneri looked especially good in midfield yesterday. He was tidy, didn't try to force too much, recycled possession well and as always is superb with the ball at his feet. He looked more like a midfielder than ever before. Which is possibly Arteta's project with him. I would hate to see him sold when every spring the last like 4 seasons we've desperately needed bodies.

I look at it like this.

Max is better. Nwaneri won't play. And weve made mistakes in the past with young talent. Reis Nelson is still here and a series of unsuccessful loans hasn't helped sell him.

ANM is another that comes to mind. We persisted when we should have sold.

With United sniffing around MLS and you said we had to sell one, it has to be Nwaneri. I think Milan and Dortmund are interested.

I did not like the away/2nd kit. Navy too dark for me.

But I might buy the 3rd kit. Like that yellow

I like both more than the home, but I feel like the gold patch would look better on the home kit. Really just don't like the collar on the home kit.

Oh man, I didn't know about the difference in reporting gross and net between the leagues. I don't see this deal happening. I'm wondering if Arsenal even knew this before hand. You are going to have to pay Vini over 900k a week to make up the tax difference.

Unlikely, he'll more than make up for it securing 100% of his image rights, bigger market, bigger TV deals.

I wouldn't expect anything over 500k/week including the "add on bonus" he wants

I'm certain that Arsenal have done their due diligence with his reps to figure out how much he wants

This will all come down to Vini deciding if he wants to stay at Madrid and not get what he wants (all reporting I've seen say Madrid will not improve their last contract offer).

Still only giving it a 25-30% chance of happening as of now

I keep seeing the 22m offer from Madrid. Even Espn saying 22m.

But that's net. That's 40m pre tax in the UK because they tax you at 45%+2%.

So let's say we offer 22m, and his image rights are worth 20m. That's still less than Madrid's offer if you add that he would get 10m from his image rights from them.

Why would he come to Arsenal for less?

Unless that's wrong. But we essentially have to pay him 40m just to equal their offer. I was thinking 22m gross. At that price I was thinking we could beat their offer. Now I don't think we can.

To match what he wants is like 56 million pre tax. That's actually retarded.

This is what google says:

quote:

To equal Real Madrid's current contract offer in England, a Premier League club would need to pay Vinícius Júnior a staggering gross salary of roughly £24 million per year (approximately £460,000 per week). The calculation relies on the massive structural differences between how continental football contracts and British football contracts are structured and taxed.

Vs the Madrid net offer.

Taxes aren't all the different, even if you include the Beckham law of 24% flat tax

It's going to cost a lot, but it's not insurmountable, and has financial minded as KSE has been so far, I assume they've taken all of this into account when Ornstein said the potential move has been "approved at all levels"

Been a strange one.

quote:

The Athletic reported on July 8 that Guimaraes had informed Newcastle of his desire to leave the club and join Arsenal, who initially expressed a willingness to pay up to £60million (€70m, $80.2m) for him.

This came after Arsenal had a verbal offer — worth below £60m — rebuffed by Newcastle, who had maintained that they would not be entertaining offers for the midfielder.

I wonder if Newcastle will still say no club to club talks have happened when he's suiting up for Arsenal week 1.

No i get the taxes aren't different, it's that in England they report gross wages and spain is reporting net. 22m net is 40m gross.

So if Saka is making 350k a week, his net pay is actually 192k.

Im looking at this purely from we aren't really offering much more than Madrid. In that case, I don't see him leaving.

But to pay him what he wants would be 900k -1m a week. Because he wants 30m net. You got to almost double that in gross.

I guess we'll see. I doubt we'd pay that much.

I think the new gross would be something closer to 650k/week to match the latest offer and if you add in the additional image rights it becomes a lot more attractive.

If the reported €22 million is net, then in England Arsenal would have to pay something close to:

Net to player: €22M
Income tax + employee National Insurance: pushes the gross salary to roughly €40–42M
Employer National Insurance is an additional cost on top of the player's gross salary, bringing Arsenal's total annual payroll cost even higher—potentially into the €43–45M+ range depending on the exact contract structure.

So if Vini Jr. truly wants around €30M net, as some reports have claimed, then you're talking about something like:

€30M net
€55–60M+ total annual cost to an English club

That's astronomical.

For comparison:

Arsenal's current highest earners are believed to be in roughly the £250k–350k/week range.
A €22M net deal is equivalent to well over £700k/week net, and the club cost would be approaching or exceeding £1 million per week once taxes and employer costs are considered.

quote:

That's why I don't think Arsenal could realistically "match" it in a straightforward sense. If there is any truth to Arsenal's interest, it would likely require one of these things:

The €22M figure isn't actually net.
Vini is willing to accept significantly less to leave Madrid (which seems unlikely).
The reports are being used as leverage in negotiations with Real Madrid.
Arsenal's interest is genuine, but they know the chances of completing the deal are extremely low.

This is also why many people view the Saudi clubs as the only realistic alternative. Saudi clubs don't face the same tax burden, so a player can receive an enormous take-home salary without the club having to spend nearly as much in gross payroll as a Premier League club would.

So your math is basically pointing to the same conclusion that many football finance analysts reach: if Vini Jr. is insisting on €22–30 million net per year, Arsenal would have to shatter their wage structure to an unprecedented degree. That's why the rumors have been met with a lot of skepticism.

So if this is all true, Arsenal are actually retarded, this was never going to happen.

I think it's a sliding scale. He went high with both for Madrid thinking he'd get one or the other (salary or image rights) they are calling his bluff (allegedly). You have to assume he and his agents have got a total figure that would earn his signature. With Arsenal, you have to assume they know this number and can make it work on some platform without fricking everything else up

I don't think Arsenal would let leak to Ornstein that they would move forward with the transfer if they weren't confident they can match his total remuneration number without blowing the wage structure out of the water. KSE aren't going to tear everything up after they've finally tasted success with this group

All that being said, it's a long shot, and completely rests on Vini making a decision one way or the other. 0 chance prime Vini goes to Saudi and no longer gets to compete in the CL league.
