verything to play for at home against a team that’s owned you over the course of atleast 7 years and that’s the performance we witnessed?
Other than the game in August, they have not beaten us in the league since March 2022.

I know we played terrible, but it wasn’t like they dominated us at all. They had one shot off the crossbar on our mistake and otherwise had zero shots on target.

Now we will become the first team in top flight football to ever play 4 away games in 10 days. Thankfully, two of them are cup games so we can get some rotation.
Hopefully Hincapie isn’t too serious and if so that Cala is back soon.

We played like a team that didn't want to lose, not one that wanted to win. And it looks exactly like that 2H performance.

Happens far too often. Never ceases to amaze me how shite we can be.

No one scored today and we didn't have a shot on goal after he came off. So im thinking it's not really him.

Luckily we weren't scored on after he was subbed off like we have been in most games since he came back from injury.

On the injury thing, players fake injuries all the time and Bradley tried to crawl back on the pitch. Don't give a shite really.

You can't take breaks if you want to win trophies. All it takes is randomness (Szbo FK in the first fixture)

That's the worst Liverpool team we've played in god knows how long and they pretty much did what they wanted in 2H

We had at least 2. Not good ones, but shots.

I'm tired of defending him. He's not good at hold up play, he's not good at combining with anyone, he can't win Headers when we boot it long. He does 2 things well: wrestle with CBs unnecessarily and take PKs. His goal scoring record is fine if he was providing assists, but he doesn't even do that.

I thought the team selection was not great too. You need runners in behind against Liverpool. The one decent chance we had in the 2H came from Timber making a run and sending it out to Noni (if Martinelli ran to the back post on that we win)

I know I'm being overly negative, but you'll never get a better chance to go up 8 vs a severely depleted Liverpool team.

You can't play like that when you've got a history of not being able to get over the hump in all comps

First team in 15 years to prevent Liverpool from having a shot on target in a PL game.

10th Clean Sheet of the year as well. Take the point and the clean sheet. Burn the game film. Block out the noise and move on. All you gotta do.

I'd be more upset but I think City will keep dropping points. Worst case, we just have to be 5 points better than them the last 17 games of the season. A season where we have played 3rd and 4th twice already and have 3 games left against top half times away.

A little perspective

We are on pace for 88 to 89 points

City and Villa are on pace for 77 to 78

We shouldn't have to rely on them though.

We will drop points as well, when you have opportunities, you have to seize them. We have not shown that ability as an org in the last decade

I don’t think we had a shot on target the second half. Oh I forgot, Jesus had that header that was saved in extra time but it wasn’t hard for the keeper.

What I’m saying is making the changes didn’t change the game.

So I’m just saying Victor Gyokeres isn’t the only player on the team.

We played one ball over the top that was too heavy and the keeper just scooped up. Multiple times Trossard and Gyokeres looked to run off the shoulder and the ball never came from any of the midfielders. They are scared to play those passes in these games. It’s got to be Arteta.

Saying you didn’t lose to a top 6 side is nice and all if we were just trying to get into the champions league. Not if you want to win the title. Stop playing the badge on some of these teams.

For example, I don’t want to watch us play not to lose against United at home. We should be beating them, not worried about the badge on the shirt.

No I know he's not the only player on the team, but the fact that he can't generate is own shots, or combine with anyone else to get a shot is a problem. He's basically completely reliant on a well timed & weighted through ball or a cross that he is actually making a run for to generate shots.

As much as Kai isn't a CF, he does both of those other things really well, but isn't as good a finisher. The thing with Vik is that if there isn't space, he's not holding up or outmuscling anyone. I thought he'd figure that part out, but 18 PL games played and 7 of them he has produced 0 shots.

FOTmob has us as 2 SOG in the 2H. I know for sure the Martinelli one late, but I think there was one more.

This is a problem:

And it's not a service thing. He can't get open, and can't play 1-2s with people

Havertz had 4 as a CM before he became a CF

Id rather see Nketiah again than Gyokeres on the pitch. We'll win inspite of him, like we have all year.

I also feel like this is the first time all season we didn't adequately adapt in the 2H. They overloaded the midfield to retain possession, and we just kept doing the same shite over and over again.

Part of that was because MLS was getting fricking killed on the LHS. Guy has to be nursing something because he looked 60 years old on some of those recovery runs.

Just unimaginative throwing our head at the wall shite. Feels like we had the ball like 5 min in the last 20 of the game. Horrid playing from the guys, which may have resulted in getting out tactic'd

We've gained 4 points in the last 3 games baw. I think that is sorta seizing the opportunity don't you think?

This is crazy talk to me. Of course Vik HAS TO score more that said, we have scored a lot of goals due to his hold up play and strength. Again no excuse just comparing to Nketiah. Nketiah was so meh. In the press, hold up, 1 2s. He got some goals cuz everyone was focused on Saka and prime form Martinelli. ANNNNNNND Eddie played in a team where opposing teams didn't park the bus every fricking second

Like I said, Vik has to do better.

We still have to go to the Ethiad. If we play like this, it's all of a sudden a 3 pt lead.

Does it not concern you that of the circumstances of this game we came out and played liked we did? It's unimaginable how we let them push us around on our own pitch.

This has historically been a team weak on mental fortitude when it counts. This game today was NOT a strong indication for a title push.

I hope they can flush it, but we are just as prone as anyone else to the "cluster" results and the margin is a lot better when you're up 8 instead of 6 with a game to play @ your title rivals.

He's a professional footballer, figure it the frick out. He can't keep being a not contributing member of the team. Occupying CBs only goes so far.

7 of 18 games played with 0 shots is inexcusable. Why can't he create his own shots? It would my expectation for any CF we have needs to do that.

Now, I am singling him out, but the rest of the team was below par this game. This is a season long thing now. We ARE going to play low blocks every week, he HAS to adapt to that and figure out how to be useful. Wrestle fighting with CBs ain't the play in that situation

I forgot about that Jesus header.

Because it was nothing really.

Arteta showed absolutely no steel in the second half. It’s also time to drop Gyorkeres. Give me Merino or Kai when ready.

I will absolutely concede that the overall performance was poor, but when you have a CF giving nothing to the build up and can't create shots for himself it is a real problem.

How does Jesus get in position for a header but Gyokeres can't?

He's just not a productive player for us game to game. Does he have his moments? Sure. I just think we get through this season (and hopefully win something) and move on. He's better suited for a team that gives him constant service because it's all they have.

No it doesn't. City and Liverpool have won title after title beating the frick out of every non top 4 team. That is our formula here. I think we are fine. 6 is a good spot. Just breathe. We all would have taken a 6 point lead after 21 games considering the gauntlet away schedule. We will okay.

Defensively we are still good. Would love Calafiori back ASAP. Worst case give me White at RB, Timber at LB.

We are the #1 xG attacking team and the #1 xG defending team. Today sucked but it is fine. Just got to keep moving forward. Beat Forest away (another boogey fixture) and we are in a great spot. Calma
