Obviously need a result tomorrow but I wonder how we would approach the Atletico tie. Glad the potential return leg is at home but we can't let that team get a good lead on us in Madrid. I know we smacked them at home but life was different back then

It will be a huge disappointment if we don't go through because I liked our chances against both Spanish sides.

But one thing we won't do is play a high line. So they will have to play through us. And hopefully we would have some more players back for that tie. Hincapie and Timber would help right about now.

I suspect then it will be rice zubi and Eze as the midfield 3.

I don't want to see the martinelli, gyok, noni front 3 again so you need to start Trossard on the left, or start Kai instead of gyok if going martinelli.

I think Big Vik is undroppable at the moment personally. Tho if he were to get dropped like you said, I'd rather Kai.

My only thinking behind that is we can't play out the back. So watching raya hit long balls to Gyokeres just isn't doing it for me. Well at least if a team is going to press us like Bournemouth. If they sit back on us then yeah.

HOA saying hincapie and mosquera starting. And he was right.

Raya, mosquera, Saliba, Gabrielle, Hincapie, Zubi, Rice, Eze, Noni, Gyokeres, Martinelli.

Hopefully this gives us a bit more defensive solidity. I do think White and Myles fell asleep on Bournemouth's first goal.

If we had a proper left winger we could use Martinelli as a sub when the game is stretched which is when he thrives in the CL.

Trossard has been woeful in 2026 so that plan goes out the window.

There was a stat showing our xg or something with gyok and martinelli starting together and it's worse than any other combos.

As yall know I think Calafiori is the most well rounded/all around player on the team.

I don't think I can go one more season of him constantly being injured. We are the best team on earth when he's in form and healthy but that hasn't been the case since late December.

He would have been huge today and this past weekend

This is going to be another ugly one isn't it. Those 3 up top together have been abysmal.

Despite the formation that has continually proved to be ineffective, the bottom line is the players need to step up. Get the result, plain and simple.

Rice & Zubi 5 feet in front the CBs and no advancing balls, just sideways and backwards... frustrating

and yeah got to do better with that counter attack they had, be a little selfish there Gyok

Omg zubi turned and played the ball forward instead of backwards.

When we win the ball back in their half dont go back, just attack them.

So far it's looking better. Fair bit of possession and a few counter attacks. Eze doing some solid work dribbling the 1st defender, Martinelli getting past his man. Not as much Madueke and next to no Gyok action.

I say that, and then Sporting pick up all the possession, and now a lengthy delay to further kill any momentum

It's infuriating watching how hard it is for the guys to beat a press. Dribble past one guy, make a line skipping pass anything other than standing on the ball slowing down everything to a snails pace only to then inevitably pass backwards.

Can someone put in a decent cross or free kick?
