Coming up on 80 min and Arteta still hasn’t made a sub besides taking merino off at half.

Our strategy the past three games has been get to the wings and lob a cross into the box. This feels like watching Berhalter ball all over again. It just doesn’t work if you want to score goals.
I was just thinking that we look like the USMNT, except we don’t even half the ability to counter. We’ve got to be the slowest team in the Prem

club has always had stretches of games where they find themselves in a funk every season. Unfortunately, this season's stretch has come early.
Its sad that our offensive threat is heavily relied on one person and look completely inept without them playing.

Can they take another vacation to Dubai?

Today was one of those super frustrating games not because we played bad, but because we played pretty good in the 2nd half and dominated them, but lost on a PK 1-0.
Worst way to lose in soccer. It is what it is. Odeegard and Rice back at the weekend. A win at Chelsea would solve a good bit of problems before the international break and allow almost everyone to get healthy.
Arsenal and Arteta look in the mirror moment this Sunday.

We are regressing.
Inter didn’t start 4 or 5 of the their usual folks and we still looked like dog shite.
If teams play a mid block that transitions to a low we have 0 idea how to play through that.
I’d be shocked if we get a point at Stamford Bridge this weekend

We’ve scored 3 goals in 4 CL games, with 2 coming in 1 game.
Only 5 of 32 teams haven’t scored 3 goals

We desperately need attacking talent. We basically need a superstar on the level of Henry circa 2003 to actually compete, but the problem is that we have to create that player, because we won't be able to afford such a player in the market.
The structure, spacing, movement, and width of the team is superb in every phase of the game right up until we get to the goal mouth. It's like the opposite problem from some teams of the Wenger era. Wish we could combine the combination play around the 18 from Wenger to Arteta's superb organizational ability.

I think our tactics have gotten a little stale.
Saka and Martinelli have basically become touch line players and crossers.
No one underlaps on overlaps, just try to beat your guy 1v1 or try to cross it in.
I think my biggest issue, is we HAVE to be the worst attacking transition team in the world. Anytime we move the ball up the pitch with remotely any speed, someone holds everything up and starts the sideways passing. Our decision making in those areas of the pitch is tragic

Yeah the slowing down of the game is completely intentional. The issue is that we have to learn how to modulate the speed of it. Again, modulating the speed of our attack was something Arteta excelled at, and it is curious his teams play so different from how he used to play.

Why couldn’t yall spend spend and splurge on someone like Gyorkes or even Sesko? It’s not like yall have signed a super expensive player right? Would it be an FFP problem?
I know yall despise Liverpool (and probably think it’s weird I read this threads but the board is so slow I keep up with every team thread
However I can’t help think of the comparison between the great deals yall got on guys like Odegaard, Gabriel, Saliba and LFC similarly doing the same with Salah, Mane, and some others. Then we went and spent a ton on VVD and Alisson which was what we needed to do to fix our biggest weakness
Granted we were able to spend big on VVD and Alisson bc of committing highway robbery with the sale of Coutinho to Barca
Eta damn nvm I just looked up some of the transfer prices yall have made.
Partey White Jesus Kai and Rice combined for ~350m

It's not the prices of the players, it's finding the right profile of player who is an improvement for us. And in the sense I'm discussing, we need a mercurial attacking talent on the level of Henry, Fab, RvP, Ozil, Arshavin for the 18 months he was amazing, etc. to win those games where things don't go perfectly. For 75% of the games we play, we can beat teams through our game plan alone. But we need that special player who can win games on their own on occasion. Saka has that potential, but he's also a magnificent team player who gives you a minimum 7/10 performance every game.
To win titles, we just need players who have that extra level when it counts. We have an amazing spine and a superb system, but Arteta doesn't seem to trust the mercurial attacking talent who might be defensively wayward. There are some games and certain times when that has to be sacrificed. That's all I'm saying.

I gotcha that makes sense

Basically we need a player like prime Salah for Pool. Saka really has that potential if he could focus on attacking more but his defensive contribution is extremely valuable.

I’m happy to be wrong but recently Martinelli has been a completely useless player. Lacking in vision and confidence. He needs more pressure to that starting role. I’d honestly have rather kept ESR to play that role

Well tomorrow is as must win as it gets. Cant go down 10 pts to this Liverpool team. They are bludgeoning everyone

Another shameful offensive half
Posted on 11/10/24 at 11:46 am to texastiger38
I'm losing it with the Midfield and lackluster attack we've seen the past month or close to.
