that's what I get for trying to break old news. going camping with no service makes old news new haha.
I do think the transfer talk is unsettling Mahrez though.

If we get Mustafi I'll consider it a pretty successful window, striker or no. Xhaka and Mustafi are two top signings.
I'm less worried about the striker situation. I think out of Theo, Giroud, and Alexis we can make it work, with depth out wide in Ox, Campbell, Iwobi, Ramsey or Jack if necessary, etc.
Now, I do think we absolutely need a striker, or at least a goal scorer. There's been a growing buzz that we've been working on a big name like Lewandowski but I pretty much consider that bullshite. I think we're holding out to drive down the price on Lacazette, after whiffing on Vardy, which in retrospect would have been a very nice addition.
Mahrez plus Mustafi would be incredible. But I'll take either one at this point.

We need Mustafi more. I've been pleased with Theo and Ox so far. I know Ox looked good last preseason but if Theo hits his pre-injury form that's good for at least 10 more goals a season, which is the minimum threshold we need to compete (80 goals a season is a decent benchmark for a title winning team).

Didn't lacazette just get hurt though? I hadn't heard the severity.

Basically repeating what someone on twitter said, but I would honestly like the idea of Alexis learning to be a striker over a Lacazette type signing. Easier/cheaper to find a replacement on the wings, already has great understanding with Ozil, and I think it would make our press extremely dangerous.

Injured his hip. Probably won't be serious unless we actually sign him.

Henry was talking about playing Sanchez and Giroud up top. So Sanchez can run off him.

Sky sources are telling us that Arsenal’s negotiations to sign the Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi are ongoing. The Germany international, who could reportedly command a fee of up to £30m, has been left out of Valencia’s squad for tonight’s friendly with Nigeria All-Stars.

Please Arsene just get him. A true need and a damn good player just entering his prime.

Bellerin, Kos, Mustafi, Monreal back line would be very nice. Obviously we all want a top-tier striker but a center back is a much bigger need at this point.

I agree 100%. Even without a new striker this squad has goals in them.

Would be a great window. So, of course I can't get excited.

Watch us lowball the Mahrez offer and miss out. I'm betting on it actually.

Get French Football ?@GFFN The latest from @LequipeTypeE21 consultant @GillesFavard: Arsenal have now apparently made a £35m offer for Riyad Mahrez to Leicester.
The Mustafi stuff sounds very reliable. The Mahrez stuff, not quite as much.

that's what I'm thinking. I think we get Mustafi and Mahrez or Lacazette are just extra gravy if we can pull off a miracle. Not counting on either one.

I genuinely do not think this has anything to do with Arsene. Arsene is taking a beating but Stan Kroenke controls the purse strings. He is a multi-billionaire with Wal-Mart money, but he spends bupkis on his franchises. He is one of the worst owners in professional sports (with the possible exception of Jerry Jones). Arsenal fans who want to win should demand that he sell the team, because does not want to win at all, just pocket the cash.

Sure it does. Arsene is an economist and overpaying isn't in his DNA. I wish Stan would just GTFO.

Seems this is exactly what's happening. I get meeting at a price, but the way Arsenal go about it is insulting.
