I'd like Song as depth with first XI upside for the right price. Can cover at CB and DM. I know he's too undisciplined to protect our defense...he's basically the anti-Arteta.

I wonder how Diaby is doing right now. Could he get some time in Arteta's absence? He's not a DM either necessarily and looked a little slow in preseason.

So in other words, step-stools all around for the Chelsea game?

Eh, replace Cazorla with Ozil and Chambers with BFG and our numbers go up about 2 inches.

i would like a taller DM so we can play sanchez at CF. can't really afford to take giroud or sanogo out of the XI and not replace that height.

i think it's important to remember Song has been dog shite at DM and CB for Barca the past two years. i think we need to look elsewhere. he should only be a last ditch option.

I disagree. He's a proven entity in this league and we can get him on a free loan.

hleb was a "proven entity" in this league. there's a difference between situations in guys like fab and sanchez and that of guys like hleb or song.

he wasn't merely not as good as they expected or deadweight after an even bigger signing. he has been awful. at the positions we would need a signing to play. positions he was never great at for us. i think he irreparably harmed his career and development at barca and think it would be pretty pure desperation for us to bring him back. would only be cool with it if we whiffed on other targets and barca paid part of his wages.

simply put, he has been awful at positions we need cover in and i think it'd be unwise for us to expect he could become for us what barca has desperately tried to make him these past two seasons.

Yeah song hit a wall and went backwards. Poor career move on his part. Do not want.

Wouldn't mind it. I think he can give our midfield that extra punch we sometimes need.

I think he's a step up for Arsenal.

Yeah he lost his mind at the world cup. Cameroon had to be the worst team at the tourney.

I don't want Song at all. He doesn't have an RVP quality striker to finish his balls and he is so slow. Arteta and Flamini are better at this point.

Khedira or Carvhalo are the only two I would be happy with.

this is actually a great point I hadn't thought of. I definitely agree. Giroud is not RvP quality.

Here's the video.. It was Arsenal's first game against Newcastle since the four goal comeback; in that game, Joey Barton recklessly tackled several Arsenal players and wasn't punished by Phil Dowd but Diaby was sent off for retaliating. Song's stomp on Barton was clearly revenge for that incident and I wasn't even mad about it.

I forgot how much I hated Barton after that game. The dude acted tough because Gervinho flopped then he flops himself.

Arteta out two weeks with an ankle sprain.

Liverpool buying Balotelli makes me jealous. I would be ok with us buying him since Giroud isn't an elite striker.

Me too. He may not be worth the trouble, but we need firepower.
