I'm starting to think that we should have bought Cesc. Why not add depth? He's incredible, wanted to play for us, and we have the funds (for once).
The following is from his wiki:
Chelsea bought him for 30 million pounds. So basically we could have bought him back and broke even on the deal. I mean ffs he's a fantastic player. Do we want to pinch pennies or do we want to compete for the league title and the CL? Yeah, I get that Ozil is our 10 now, but you don't pass on a player of that quality that LOVES your organization and is in his freaking prime (age wise, not necessarily form, considering how his time there went).
But maybe this is all way off base, because I don't follow this transfer drama very close, nor am I good enough with tactics to know if you can get all of our best talent on the field at the same time with Cesc in the squad.
Look forward to hearing y'all's opinions on this.

On 15 August 2011, Barcelona signed Fàbregas for an initial fee of €29 million with a further €5 million in variables, plus Fàbregas would pay Arsenal €1 million a year from his wage for five years.[67][68] ending one of the most protracted transfer sagas in recent times. Statistics show that in the five years prior to Fàbregas's departure from Arsenal, Fàbregas created 466 goal-scoring chances, made 86 assists and scored 48 goals, all three statistics topping those of new team mates Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta despite both having made more appearances in the same period.

I agree that we should have bought back Cesc and I'm disappointed we didn't. He would have been extremely useful during the winter months where we always seem to do poorly.

I think if you want to win the league it would've been worth it just to keep him from Chelsea. On a practical level I know why we didn't bc Arsene wants to ride Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, and cazorla for "free." We'll see how it pans out. He had a really good assist but it was fricking burnley.

Yeah id take fabregas but we need other positions. I don't buy this BS love for the club. He left. He left when we were poised to take the league and we just now starting to recover.

we spent the same amount on Sanchez. I'd rather have Sanchez. we're not at city or Chelsea level where we can splash out a huge fee and a huge contract for a redundant player.
it's was an impossibly tough decision that likely wasn't going to end well either way. In a perfect, we would have/could have taken him because he's great. but AW clearly had a plan for transfer targets this off-season and he wasn't in the budget.
he's going to be great for Chelsea though. just have to hope he and jose blow up. cesc only looked good in attack yesterday. he got skinned multiple times and I don't think he made a tackle. he can't play that position against better sides without it costing Chelsea.

Plus buying back Cesc isn't necessarily sending the right message (this is secondary to the fact that we're building around Ozil). Oh, sure, young talent, go try and make it at Barca and Real, and when you don't, you can just come back and have your spot.
He's good enough that we could've bought him and I wouldn't have flinched, but it's not a fit. You can't fit Ozil, Ramsey, and Cesc out there all at once, and I think not buying him is as much a statement of belief in Ramsey as it is Ozil. Ramsey takes up a lot of spots Cesc likes to and is on another level defensively. No one has a final ball like Cesc, though.

Gibbs out three weeks with a hamstring injury.

This sucks. I think we have enough cover to get by for three weeks even if something catastrophic were to happen.

Yep - I'm surprised AW didn't take Mertesacker to Turkey.

So what is our current LB depth chart?
Nacho
Flamini?
Chambers/Debuchy (one at RB, one at LB)?

Chambers will probably play CB today b/c Per didn't make the trip. Starting Saturday, I think that is correct...

believe bellerin was brought to turkey. would assume maybe he would be the backup LB and RB this match.
manolas should happen soon. we need that to go through. i love gibbo, but we can't rely on him. really wish we'd go after another LB, but that isn't happening this offseason.
2 hamstring issues (albeit from 2 injury-prone players) after 1 match. i'm sure people already want forsythe canned

Arsenal Player is showing that they are showing the match live. That can't be correct, can it? Can't make it Finn's today, conference call at 4:00 that I can't miss.

This sounds right. Although we did bring Bellerin, I think I'd rather see Flamini there in a pinch at the moment
Consecutive prepositional phrases. Ballin'

Great save by Shez. Demba Ba just pulled away off Chambers' shoulder and nearly scored a wonderful volley.
